The Department of Human Services, Norristown State Hospital is looking to fill Certified Peer Specialist positions to provide ongoing support services to individuals in both the civil and forensic sections of Norristown State Hospital. DESCRIPTION OF WORK As a Certified Peer Specialist, you collaborate with consumers to help identify personal goals for recovery; determine steps to reach recovery goals; and provide an environment of mutual respect, empowerment, and opportunity within the community. In addition, you provide information on public services, educational opportunities, employment/vocational supports, as well as actively listen to and advocate with consumers to recognize their own strengths and recovery options.

Work is performed under the supervision of a Manager within the Social and Rehabilitative Services and evaluated by observation and review of documentation and work outcomes.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment, 37.5-hour work week Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Special Requirement:

You must possess an active certification as a Certified Peer Specialist issued by the Pennsylvania Certification Board (PCB). Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement. A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
