DESCRIPTION OF WORK In this position, you will oversee the environmental evaluations of applications related to water obstructions and encroachment permits, making determinations in alignment with the Dam Safety and Encroachments Act as well as chapter 105 of the department's regulations. Your responsibilities will involve interpreting, assessing, and analyzing data from permitting documents, field records, reference materials, and feedback from relevant agencies.

You will also be tasked with conducting and coordinating field investigations and ecological assessments of aquatic habitats and their surrounding environments. This includes participation in biological surveys and investigations, as well as analyzing community structures. Additionally, you will ascertain or confirm the boundaries of the waters within this Commonwealth, adhering to chapter 105 of the department's regulations and the 1987 Army Corps of Engineers Wetlands Delineation manual.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. This position requires travel as needed. Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time up to3 days a week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Norristown. Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable. Most selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $50,836.00 (before taxes). QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: A bachelor's degree with a major in a biological science, natural science, environmental science, or natural resource management, including or supplemented by six college credits in freshwater aquatic biology, aquatic ecology, aquatic botany, water pollution biology, entomology, limnology, or closely related aquatic science coursework; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six college credits in freshwater aquatic biology, aquatic ecology, aquatic botany, water pollution biology, entomology, limnology, or closely related aquatic science coursework. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree. Special Requirement: This position requires possession of a valid motor vehicle license. Other Requirements: You must meet the PA residency requirement.
