Robert Half Director of Finance in Norfolk, Virginia
Description
We are offering an exciting opportunity in the Non-Profit industry located in Norfolk, Virginia, United States. Our focus is on hiring a Director of Finance to oversee our financial operations and strategies. The selected candidate will be tasked with managing general ledgers, coordinating payroll processes, and ensuring accurate recording of all transactions.
Responsibilities:
• Develop and enforce effective internal controls over all transaction cycles, adapting processes to new and changing programs and transaction types.
• Manage the general ledger and chart of accounts, assigning new fund classes in the accounting system as necessary.
• Oversee the complete and accurate recording of all routine transactions, including revenue cycles, accounts payable, payroll, and fixed assets.
• Coordinate payroll processes, ensuring the accurate input of employee pay and withholding profiles for new employees and employee status/pay changes.
• Collaborate with senior staff to prepare a balanced annual budget, analyzing historical trends, anticipated funding, and program activities.
• Oversee the routine monthly reconciliation of cash, payables, investment, and other general ledger accounts.
• Coordinate the annual financial statement audit and preparation of necessary forms with an independent audit firm.
• Prepare routine monthly financial reports for presentation to senior staff, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Directors.
• Collaborate with Human Resources Manager to implement Open Enrollment, ensuring all employee elections and deductions are recorded accurately and timely.
• Apply knowledge of fund accounting, cost principles, and job-costing to support the financial management of all grants and contracts.
• Perform essential Treasury management functions, implementing financing and investing strategies upon direction from the Finance Committee and/or Board.

Requirements • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a finance-related role
• Proficiency in Accounting Software Systems
• Experience with ADP - Financial Services
• Knowledge of Concur software
• Ability to handle all Accounting Functions
• Experience with Accounts Payable (AP)
• Experience in preparing Annual Budget
• Proficiency in Auditing processes
• Familiarity with Budget Processes
• Experience in Treasury Management
• Knowledge of Fund Accounting - Non-Profit
• Experience with Job Cost and Construction Cost calculations
• Understanding of Cost - Job processes
• Ability to prepare Monthly Financial Statements
• Experience with Monthly Financial Reporting
• Familiarity with Tax - Form 990
• Experience in preparing Form 5500
