MPP Process Engineer in Noblesville, Indiana

Process Engineer - MIM Plant, Noblesville

This position is responsible for designing, monitoring, and controlling the process on the production floor and ensuring the quality of parts. A key role for this position is controlling scrap and optimization to meet company goals of on time delivery and scrap reduction. The Process Engineer will also be involved facilitating the launch and development of new products, stabilizing processes, and instigating continuous improvement projects.



Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Review and improve part efficiency

  2. Initiate cost reduction and process improvement.

  3. Reduce scrap levels due to many factors

    1. Poor instruction
    2. Poor process
    3. Poor training
  4. Investigate and correct non-conformance issues.

  5. Investigate and develop continuous improvement opportunities implementing engineering changes as required to document updates to the process.

  6. Complete size change studies that consist of working with scheduling department to schedule the trials, measuring the parts at each process step, and running the data analysis. Assist Product and Materials Engineering to develop process controls and capability standards required for quote feasibility and NPI launch activities.

  7. Develop and document control plans, Flow Diagrams, Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA), processes and designs used for the manufacture of products.

  8. May be involved with New Product Introduction Projects, which consist of reviewing production schedules, calling suppliers, working with tool design, supporting the quality department, meeting with the customer, and contacting sales, as needed.

  9. Locate and develop working relationships with suppliers to perform work external to MPP.

  10. Review new product prints for accuracy and manufacturability.

  11. Assist sales and manufacturing with technical service on various accounts.

  12. Be involved in risk assessment for product offering and customer specification updates.

  13. Performs other duties as assigned by immediate supervisor or upper management.

Requirements:

  1. Bachelors Degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  2. 3-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal injection molding with knowledge of molding, machining, inspection, GDandT, compliance to blueprint requirements, and process development.
  3. Metal Injection Molding experience is required
  4. Ensure compliance with ITAR regulations in the handling, processing, and export of defense-related materials and technologies.
  5. Bachelors Degree in one of the following: Mechanical Engineering Technology (MET), Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering.
  6. 3-7 years experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal injection molding with knowledge of molding, machining, inspection, GDandT, compliance to blueprint requirements, and process development.
  7. Demonstrated skill in Lean for Manufacturing required.
  8. Excellent Written and Verbal Communication skills
  9. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite. Minitab, and SolidWorks experience is desired.
Working Environment and Conditions:

  1. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms.
  2. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.
  3. This position requires working in an internal manufacturing environment.
  4. Some night and weekend work may happen for specific projects.
  5. Minimal travel required.
