JOB SUMMARY

Coordinates internship activities related to the development and operation of a paid internship program for HS students

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Program Manager Support

  • Develops resumes.

  • Assists students in fulfilling curriculum requirements-monitors progress.

  • Communicates with parents on student’s progress.

  • Participates in networking opportunity events.

  • Communicates with school staff, employers, and DVRS to create awareness and provide updates on program progress.

Internship Coordination

  • Develops a six-week internship opportunity based on students’ abilities and interests at a local business.

  • Develops and coordinates job sampling opportunities for each student prior to the start of the five-week internship.

  • Coordinates schedules for all students and internships.

  • Coordinates travel arrangements and provides travel instruction.

  • Provides on-site job coaching for internships.

  • Liaison with internship supervisors and managers.

  • Conducts weekly internship progress assessments.

  • Completes all documentation in a timely and professional manner; maintains excellent communication with stakeholders, including monthly update reports to referring counselor.

Education

Bachelor’s (BA or BS) required.

Job Experience

  • Two years’ experience in related social service/education field or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

  • Non-profit experience is strongly preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Demonstrable knowledge of

  • Mission, vision and goals of The Fedcap Group and execution of relevant policies and procedures.

  • Strong organizational, administration, presentation, and communication skills (both verbal and written).

  • Microsoft Office and internet skills.

  • Vocational needs of individuals with disabilities.

  • Demonstrable ability to

  • Work with individuals from diverse backgrounds and believe in the rights and abilities of people with disabilities.

  • Possess good mapping and planning skills; have a professional demeanor and appearance.

  • Manage time, set priorities; and to work independently.

Software Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

Physical Demands

  • This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Work Conditions

Work is typically performed in an office environment but may be required to perform job duties outside of the office setting.

Special Schedule

This is a Full-Time position, and hours of work and days are typically Monday through Friday between 9:00AM to 6:00PM but will be determined by your supervisor. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Travel Demands

Travel is primarily local throughout Essex County, NJ during the business day, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected to fulfill position responsibilities.
