Job Title: Maintenance Technician

Pay Range: $29-31 (Multi-Craft) $32-37 (Electrical Technician)

Responsibilities include: - Installation, troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, cleaning, and repair of containerboard plant machinery and equipment - Observing mechanical devices in operation and listening to their sounds to locate causes of trouble - Dismantling devices to gain access to and remove defective parts - Examining form and texture of parts to detect imperfections - Inspecting used parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements - Adjusting functional parts of devices and control instruments - Repairing or replacing defective parts and installing special functional and structural parts in devices - Cleaning parts - Starting devices to test their performance - Setting up and operating drill press, grinder, band saw, milling machine, welder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts - Movement, positioning, and replacement of heavy weight equipment with the aid of mechanical means such as forklifts, pry bars, and chain falls - Pushing toolbox to work areas and carrying, lifting, and transporting parts to and from work locations and maintenance shop by hand or mechanical means - Using personal protective equipment: cut resistant gloves and sleeves, heat resistant gloves and sleeves, safety glasses, goggles, face shield, bump cap, ear plugs, and steel-toed shoes - Using hand tools such as wrenches, hammers, punches, screwdrivers, pliers, and pipe wrenches on a continuous basis - Performing fine adjustments that require dexterity for circuit board adjustments and using both hands to apply force when pushing or pulling a wrench to break pipe fittings - Performing plant startup tasks, energizing all equipment and ensuring operation - Oiling and greasing machines - Installing power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as conveyors and programmable controllers - Connecting power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connecting cables and wires between machines and equipment - Diagnosing malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replacing damaged or broken wires and cables - Replacing faulty electrical components on machines such as relays, switches, and motors, and positioning sensing devices - Diagnosing and repairing or replacing faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards - Replacing electric motor bearings and rewiring motors - Planning layout of wiring and installing wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings - Diagnosing and replacing faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment - Cleaning work area, tools, and equipment - Utilizing computer for work order entry and completion status - Initiating purchase order for parts and machines - Engaging in preventative maintenance processes in assigned areas

This is a permanent position.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Newton, North Carolina.

Work Environment

This position requires working in a plant environment with the use of personal protective equipment. Shifts include 2nd Shift (3:00pm-11:00pm) and 3rd Shift (11:00pm-7:00am). Overtime and weekend work may be necessary. The role involves physical tasks such as moving heavy equipment and using hand tools continuously.
