Test Engineer/Data Analyst
Overview:
JHNA has an immediate opening for a dynamic and skilled Test Engineer/Data Analyst to join our team in supporting our Army Aviation science and technology development customer at Fort Eustis, VA. As part of this role, you will have the opportunity support cutting-edge aircraft and UAS Test & Evaluation (T&E) events.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of innovative aircraft autonomy and UAS technology development, conducting in-depth data analysis to drive critical insights for Science & Technology (S&T) projects and presenting results to Army Senior leaders to enable procurement and fielding to the Warfighter. As a key member of the Mission System team working in the Intelligence Teaming research area, you'll play a key role in shaping the future of military aviation. You will work alongside the program leads, autonomy and UAS experts, flight test pilots and engineers and flight test directors to plan and execute cutting edge test and demonstration of future autonomous aviation technologies that enables future investment decision by the Army.
Roles/Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate will have experience that demonstrates ability to perform as a member of a team, planning, executing and reporting on testing of autonomous air vehicles while participating in developmental and experimental activities, including:
Developing test plans and Data Management and Analysis Plans (DMAP) including test objectives and essential evaluation test metrics, that you will communicate and coordinate with teammates and organization leaders.
Determining innovative ways to collect aircraft and payload empirical test data and observations and rapidly assess it for relevance. Developing test cards used to collect test data from operators and test vendors that support metric evaluation. Identifying data gaps, errors, anomalies, inconsistencies, and redundancies by performing detailed analysis of the content, structure, and relationships within data
Managing and performing data analysis that involves designing, developing, and utilizing mathematical, statistical, optimization, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques with software tools such as Excel Data Analytics, Access, Python (AI & ML), MATLAB, MS Business Intelligence and MS suite of office applications.
Developing and orally presenting information in the clearest way possible, incorporating text, charts, tables, graphs, pictures, etc., as appropriate.
Documenting results by writing, and editing material for clear and concise reports, manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications. This includes authoring or supporting the writing of test reports with input from numerous team members for S&T test and experimentation events.
Additionally, the best candidate will have experience in:
Conceptualizing and formulating problem statements, developing solutions, and developing analysis methods and approaches to examine solutions effectiveness and efficiency.
Applying advanced principles, theories, and concepts to solve uniquely complex problems and be able to research technologies, systems, and operational environment to increase understanding of the system use and application;
Required Qualifications:
B achelor of Science degree (or higher) in a STEM area or Data Science, Operations Research/Business Operations/management area from an ABET or equivalent accredited College or University;
Minimum of 8 years' experience in field;
Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Clerance;
Knowledge and understanding of Military Science and Technology and/or Test and Evaluation community (Military or Army Aviation experience preferred);
Ability to be at the government site 2-3 days per week;
Ability to travel 30% of the time with extend periods (2-3 weeks) two to three times per year.
Desired Qualifications:
Formal training in Operation Research and Systems Analysis (ORSA) or Data Science is highly desired
Graduate of an Experimental test pilot or test engineer school is favorable for success
Knowledge of document configuration management and knowledge management processes and procedures.
