Overview:

JHNA is seeking an Open Systems Architecture Engineer to support our government customer within the Technology Development Directorate for Army Aviation at Fort Eustis, VA.

Roles/Responsibilities:

​​As a member of a Science and Technology development team overseeing maturation of candidate manned and unmanned aviation teaming technologies:

  • ​Work as part of a diverse team of contractor, military, and civilian engineers/architects. Act as an architecture advisor to program and project leads on development and use of architectures.

  • ​Performs duties as an architectural engineer on design and development of Human System Interface and mission systems supporting Holistic Situational Awareness and Decision-Making and Holistic Mission Management for Aviation manned and unmanned systems employing autonomous teaming.

  • ​Provides advanced, expert knowledge of hardware and software architecture and design methodologies in development of architecture models, develops models, and evaluates models and their integration into other models.

  • ​Understand Modular Open System Architecture (MOSA) principles as well as common interface standards such as FACE.

  • ​Ability to lead others in the effective use of UPDM (Unified Profile for DODAF/MODAF) and/or UAF (Unified Architecture Framework) to meet the business needs of the organization.

  • Advises the client on requirements for autonomy and its integration into aircraft systems designs to reduce crew cognitive workload.​

    Required Experience:

  • ​​​​Bachelor of Science in Engineering or closely related field from an accredited College or University.

  • ​​Must be a US Citizen and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret DoD issued security clearance​.

  • At least 5 years post-degree experience in systems engineering and architecture development for aircraft systems integration.

  • ​3-5 years' experience in future vertical lift systems and software-intensive military manned and unmanned aviation mission systems.

  • ​Experience with DoD Digital Engineering policy and its implementation in Army programs​.

  • Experience working directly with DoDAF (Department of Defense Architecture Framework) and UPDM (Unified Profile for DODAF/MODAF) and/or UAF (Unified Architecture Framework).

    Desired Experience:

  • ​​Capable of analyzing and integrating complex data, drawing reasonable and logical system-level conclusions, and developing courses of action for program leadership, senior leadership, and system design decision forums.

  • ​Capable of establishing and optimizing priorities and managing planning and readiness activities.​

  • Has experience with Army Aviation's Future Vertical Lift Cross Functional Team Architecture Collaborative Working Group (ACWG).
