Artisan Kitchens Maintenance Tech - 2nd Shift in Newberry, South Carolina

Overview The position of Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for maximizing the uptime and effective throughput of plant processing equipment from receipt of raw ingredients, staging and through the palletizing and warehousing of finished product. Ideal candidate for this position will have experience troubleshooting issues and maintaining typical food manufacturing equipment. This is a very collaborative position that works extremely closely with the production department in order to help determine gaps in training as well as ideas in order to develop and maintain a culture of continuous improvement and teamwork. Responsibilities Performs maintenance in all areas of the plant on a scheduled or emergency basis as directed by work orders and/or direction from lead and/or maintenance manager:

  • Mechanical/Electrical Repairs for processing equipment standard to the Food Processing Industry
  • Mechanical Transfer Systems (Conveyor systems)
  • Pneumatic Transfer Systems.
  • High volume Vacuum / seal packaging equipment
  • Hot water cooker equipment.
  • Automated / Semi automated primary and secondary packaging equipment
  • Automated / Semi automated palletizing equipment
  • Programmable Logic Control (PLC) Communication and Automation Systems. Ability to troubleshoot electrical systems, PLC programs, motor VFDs and other electronic systems.
  • Facilities Maintenance
  • Air Handling Systems
  • Waste water treatment plant
  • HVAC Systems
  • Building Security
  • Plant Utility Systems
  • Compressed Air Systems.
  • Chillers.
  • Hot water system (Direct flame Heat exchanger)

  • Respond urgently to unscheduled/emergency work orders through the use of CMMS system.
  • Conduct root cause of equipment failure and develop course of action to prevent future failures with direction from management.
  • Receive direction and complete assigned work from Maintenance Lead and/or Maintenance Manager.
  • Document work completed in Maintenance CMMS System
  • Coordinate directly with Production Department to coordinate maintenance and repair work.
  • Help develop and implement the plant preventative maintenance program.
  • Troubleshoot issues with structured approach to minimize production impact
  • Communicate repair steps to production to increase working knowledge of the operator
  • Participates in safety, health, and environmental programs.
  • Housekeeping duties to include sweeping, cleaning and sanitizing both work areas throughout the plant and maintenance shop area, as necessary.
  • Report any food safety issue observed to any Management team member.
  • Report any security breaches, attempts at product tampering or contamination, or other suspicious behavior observed to Manager or Supervisor.
  • Works with contractors and assists with new installations and other projects, as necessary.
  • Complete and comply with the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS), Daily Routine List (DRL), HACCP procedures, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Integrated Pest Management (IPM) Compliance.
  • Maintain a food-safe sanitary environment at all times.
  • Complete records/quality checks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Follow Companys quality assurance procedures and protocols at all times while on duty (e.g. Labeling of containers, Inventory Control, PM programs).
  • Promote a positive proactive environment where input from team members is valued and encouraged.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Ability to weld or fabricate a plus.
  • Available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis, as necessary.
  • Provide back-up support for other roles, as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager/plant manager.

Qualifications

  • Education. Minimum Required: High School Diploma. Preferred: Associate degree in Vocational Traini g in Mechanical, Electrical, Hydraulics, Pneumatics or Technical School Certification in related field.
  • 5+ years industrial maintenance experience or combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with operation of waste water plant is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of heat exchangers, vacuum pumps, basic knowledge of PLC programming, and three phase electrical systems.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.
