About Us

Job Summary

The Maintenance Engineer provides a superior-level of service to hotel staff and guests by maintaining a safe, clean, organized, and efficient work and hospitality environment.

Primary Duties

  1. Promote safe work practices throughout the hotel.

  2. Become knowledgeable about all hotel emergency procedures.

  3. Maintain and manage a timely work order system for the hotel.

  4. Conduct walk-throughs to visually and physically assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the hotel’s physical structure of the hotel, all mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, and any other related equipment.

  5. Regularly inform General Manager and hotel department heads of specific and overall condition of the building structure(s), related systems and equipment.

  6. Perform guest-room repairs (including caulking, tile repair, painting, plumbing, electrical, etc.); carpet and tile-floor repairs and kitchen equipment repairs and maintenance.

  7. Make pool repairs and adjust chemicals. Must acquire CPO (Certified Pool Operator) license.

  8. Verify completion of all repairs, replacements and renovation projects to public and back-of-the-house areas.

  9. Ensure completion of all routine maintenance on public spaces, meeting rooms, ballrooms, and back-of-the-house spaces and grounds.

  10. Maintain onsite inventory for maintenance shop.

  11. Conduct and document preventive maintenance on two-to-three rooms per day.

  12. Report to the hotel in the event of any hotel emergency which necessitates the skills and expertise of the Maintenance Engineer.

  13. Remain current on related technology advances that would enhance operations.

  14. Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis.

  15. Perform all duties in the area of responsibility and technical capabilities as required by management.

  16. Maintain the building exterior, e.g., snow/ice removal, lawn care, painting, if not serviced by a contractor.

  17. Perform any other job duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Skills Required

· Special skills and experience in a construction trade such as plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping. Certification is a plus.

· Skills and ability to handle building mechanical systems, electrical systems, energy management.

· Minimum of three years’ experience in an engineering position with a complete understanding of all building related systems: Electrical, HVAC, Plumbing, Life Safety, Kitchen, Laundry, Pool, IT, etc.

· Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

· Excellent guest service, interpersonal, and communication skills.

· Command of the English language, both written and verbal. Conversational Spanish is a plus.

· Excellent time-management skills.

· Basic computer proficiency.

· Hotel experience preferred.

● Helping to prepare the departmental budget and keeping tight control of expenses

● Leading hotel renovations and other projects, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely completion of projects within budget

● Maintaining good working relationships with outside contractors

What we need from you

● Advanced vocational training plus two years of experience in general building maintenance or construction, or equivalent combination of education and experience

● Professional certification and licence if required by law

● Hotel experience preferred.

● Must be able to speak local language(s)
