ELECTRICIAN TRAINEE (CATENARY/LINEMAN)

Electrician Trainees are assigned to assist qualified Catenary Linemen working from an elevated position in a high-voltage environment, conduct general installation, repair, and maintenance of the overhead, high-tension wire system.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have a High School Diploma or GED.

  • Must have a current NJ driver’s license.

  • Must pass a NJ Transit pre-employment exam for this position.

  • Must be able to work all shifts, Saturdays Sundays, and holidays.

  • Must complete the pre-employment background check which includes criminal, former employer, Social Security, license and proof of graduation and reference checks.

  • Must enroll in labor union representing this position.

  • If you are a current NJ Transit Employee, your work records covering a three-year period will be reviewed, i.e. attendance, safety, disciplinary records, and a review form will be forwarded to your current supervisor for completion.

  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment test.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Climb steel structures, stoop, bend, crawl, balance, kneel.

  • Be exposed to equipment that intensifies the heat factor on an occasional basis.

  • Wear protective equipment such as hardhat, safety glasses, and safety-toe boots, safety vest, etc.

  • Wear company issued FR clothing while on duty.
