Description

Performs skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled tasks to locate and inventory locations of underground water and sewer infrastructure.  Maintains fixed assets for locations of service, valves, hydrants and other water distributions system equipment.  Performs other duties as required.  

Examples of Duties

 

  • Locates underground utility lines as requested.
  • Maintains records of utility lines and manages OUPS system for Division.
  • Assists with Meter Shop for shut-offs, billing orders and large meter work.
  • Updates asset management software.
  • Assists with dispatcher duties as required on a routine basis.
  • Performs inspection of water and sewer service line installations.
  • Assists with administrative duties related to water system protection programs.
  • Works with Water Distribution Crews as needed.
  • Other related duties as required.

     

Typical Qualifications

High school diploma or GED equivalent.  Must possess a valid Ohio Driver's License.  A Class A CDL and a Class I Water Distribution Certification is required for the higher pay range.  Must have knowledge of water line maintenance procedures, the tools and equipment used to install and repair water lines.  Must know all safety regulations and apply them at all times.  Must have ability to read maps and drawings.  Must have knowledge of City codes and regulations.   Must have the ability to develop and maintain working relationships with crews, supervisors and the general public.
