Robert Half Intermediate Accountant in Newark, New Jersey

Description We are offering a contract to hire employment opportunity for an Intermediate Accountant in the non-profit industry, located in Newark, New Jersey. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in account reconciliation, and will have a key role in maintaining and monitoring our financial records.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general ledger duties, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in financial reporting.

• Conduct month-end responsibilities, ensuring all necessary financial procedures are completed in a timely manner.

• Process debit and credit transactions in accordance with industry standards and company policies.

• Utilize accounting software (MIP Sage knowledge is advantageous but not required) to streamline and automate financial processes.

• Maintain a high level of competency with Excel to assist in financial calculations and reporting.

• Manage customer credit applications, ensuring all information is accurate and processed in a timely manner.

• Maintain precise customer credit records, updating any changes as necessary.

• Monitor customer accounts regularly, taking appropriate action on any irregularities or discrepancies.

• Resolve customer inquiries professionally and promptly, providing high-quality customer service.

• Conduct account reconciliations regularly to ensure accuracy of financial data. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required

• Minimum of 3 years' experience in accounting or a related field

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with advanced skills in Excel

• Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

• Ability to perform account reconciliation

• Experience working in the non-profit industry is a plus

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Detail-oriented with the ability to multitask effectively

• Ability to work independently and within a team

• Demonstrated ability to handle confidential information

• Experience with financial software systems is preferred

• CPA certification or progress towards it is a plus.
