Posting Summary | Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking an After School Assistant. The Cornwall Center at Rutgers University-Newark, is seeking energetic and creative advocates to serve as After-school Program Servant Leaders for the Promise Youth University, Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center (PYU-21st CCLC). PYU-21st CCLC serves 3rd -8th grade students, including students with special needs, delivering a science, technology, engineering, arts, and math (STEAM) based program. PYU will employ Servant Leaders to work alongside certified teachers, community sponsors, community-based organizations, and other servant leaders to deliver high quality programs, at a15 to 1 student-staff ratio. Servant Leaders will support the program implementation of five essential components, high quality academic and character-building enrichment; parent and family involvement; civic engagement and social action; intergenerational servant leadership; and nutrition, health and mental health. Servant leaders support the seamless transition from the school day to after-school, including snack and meal distribution and homework help. Servant leaders will undergo training to support classroom management and the integration of positive youth development in their instruction and interaction with students. This project is funded by New Jersey Department of Education, Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Center Grant and the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs.This position will be responsible for and not limited to the following:
