Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Advanced Practice Nurse for NJMS- Division of Infectious Diseases. The (APN) is responsible for providing primary care, managing health problems and coordinating health care for persons living with or at risk of HIV at the Infectious Disease Practice in accordance with State and Federal rules and regulations, nursing standards of care, clinic and DHHS guidelines.Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Responsible for taking medical histories, performing physical examinations, including women's reproductive and sexual health care, ordering and interpreting lab tests, medications management, referrals to specialty care as medically appropriate and coordination of patient care with a diverse team of individuals.
  • Consults with physician as needed.
  • Additionally, the APN is responsible for assisting clinic operations and being a key resource for nurses and ambulatory care technicians.
  • Arranges for appropriate plan of care and follow-up based on outcome of diagnostic, lab, and physical assessment findings.
  • Works collaboratively with the attending physician, consulting physician(s), and other disciplines to identify, develop, and implement an appropriate plan of care that maximizes individual patient/family preference and enhances quality, access, and cost-effective outcomes.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience
  • The Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) is a licensed independent practitioner.
  • Successful completion of a master's level Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse, Advanced Practice Nurse in the state of New Jersey.
  • Must maintain BLS (CPR).
  • At least five years of experience as a nurse in clinical setting. .

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of LGBT health-related concerns.
  • Excellent phlebotomy and physical assessment skills are essential.
  • Must exhibit cultural sensitivity to working with diverse populations.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills required.
  • Demonstrated computer skills with Microsoft Office components.
  • Ability to work cooperatively/collaboratively as part of a team, developing productive working relationships with diverse groups of people.
  • Ability to assist with clinical operations as needed and serve as a key resource for nurses and ambulatory care technicians.
  • Flexibility to work some evening and/or weekend hours

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working with adult populations with HIV/AIDS and other infectious diseases is highly preferred.
  • Women's Health experience preferred.
