SENIOR MANAGER OPERATIONS RISK PROGRAM

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

This key position supports the Senior Vice President, Business Controls Officer within Banking and Investment Services (B&IS) and has primary responsibility for designing and implementing powerful, impactful and robust operational risk program solutions for the B&IS Risk and Control organization and across B&IS at City National Bank. The role will serve as an inquisitive change agent and challenger of the status quo, focusing on building strategic solutions that re-imagine the way we manage risk across B&IS. A primary area of focus is implementing risk programs and practices to ensure these align with policies, standards, best practices and regulatory requirements. This critical role has responsibility as a key member of the B&IS Risk and Control leadership team, serving as a thought leader and program leader to enable forward-thinking and efficient risk management for the B&IS Division and City National Bank.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Define and execute a strategic roadmap for the elevation of programs managed by the risk and control organization, including oversight and management frameworks for enterprise and operational risk management activities

  • Actively search for and implement advanced program, analysis and reporting concepts with the purpose of managing risk more quickly, efficiently and dynamically, pushing the envelope to evolve our capabilities and not settle for average

  • Lead in documenting and reporting Issues, Operational Risk Events or other reportable activities as appropriate.

  • Lead in designing and implementing predictive indicators for risk/control management for all leadership levels of the Banking and Investment Services team

  • Lead a team that manages the Risk & Control organization as a successful business, including regular planning, management reporting, governance, OKRs and MBRs, engagement, as well as risk and risk-adjacent programs

  • Oversee and drive large, often cross-functional organization-wide projects and initiatives to ensure the team is achieving/exceeding its commitments

  • Act as a thought partner to identify, and effectively influence, business partners to achieve optimal risk management capabilities at City National Bank, proactively digging into opportunity areas and listening to leaders’ pain points

  • Collaborate with partners in B&IS Risk & Controls and the First Line Controls Office in diagnosing and solving for opportunities that will increase risk management capabilities in B&IS and across the first line of defense

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the financial services sector

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in controls, quality assurance, or operational risk management preferred; or equivalent subject matter expertise in a relevant business-related function/operation

  • Proven track record in improving risk programs, processes, systems and challenging the status quo

COMPENSATION

Starting base salary: $127,626 - $237,014 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
