What You'll Contribute

You will use your declarative and custom development skills as member of one of our Salesforce teams to manage and enhance our Agent and Customer Salesforce solutions that are built on Financial Services Cloud and Experience Cloud, and possibly work on Chat and other integrations. You may also be asked to investigate how certain platform capabilities can help empower our business to achieve their business imperatives. The features and stories you deliver have a direct impact on our ability to achieve our business objectives for a given release and deliver value for our customers.

As a Salesforce Developer at Sallie Mae, you will be placed on one of our agile teams within a specified release train. This position will report to a Director overseeing Salesforce development.

What You'll Do

  • Contribute development to fulfill business requirements to enhance the Salesforce platform using Apex, Lightning Components (Aura and LWC), Visualforce & Lightning pages, and configurative and declarative development using Flow/Custom Metadata / etc.

  • Integrate 3rd party applications such as Amazon Connect, Live Vox, or other applications as necessary.

  • Test and debug code and integrations and contribute to technical documentation.

  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement fixes.

  • Use your Salesforce knowledge to leverage the latest design patterns, principles, and technology.

  • Utilize ADO to manage and deliver code through pipelines to production. This candidate should have a good understanding of working in ADO, pipelines, and ADO deployments.

What You Have

Minimum education, skills and experience required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree Information Technology/Computer Technology or related field and/or equivalent work

  • 3+ Years overall development experience with a good foundation in OOP

  • 2+ Years hands on Salesforce development experience on mid to large enterprise implementations

  • Good product knowledge of Sales, Service and Experience Clouds

  • Proficiency with Apex, Visualforce, Lightning Web Components (Aura and LWC), SOQL,

  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, SOAP and REST web services

  • Proficiency with modern IDEs (VSCode, IntelliJ) and SCM tools (Git, SVN)

  • Experience with relational databases, data modeling, and SQL

  • Proficiency with Agile, Scrum, or other iterative development methodologies

  • Ability and desire to learn new technologies and development tools.

  • Desire to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment as part of a team of like-minded developers.

Preferred education, skills, and experience.

  • Salesforce Unit and Automated Testing experience using JEST and Robot frameworks.

  • Experience with Salesforce data tools such as Data Loader

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and the Salesforce CLI (SFDX)

  • Familiarity with developing on other cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services

Salesforce certifications are preferred:

  • Salesforce Certified Platform Developer I

  • Salesforce Certified App Builder

  • Salesforce Certified JavaScript Developer I

  • Salesforce Certified Administrator
