Robert Half Patient Access Specialist in Newark, California

Description

We are offering an opportunity in our Newark, California location for a Patient Access Specialist. This role is crucial to our healthcare operations, focusing on managing patient admissions and registrations, ensuring accurate handling of payments, and compliance with billing requirements. The Patient Access Specialist will also be responsible for identifying patients' insurance coverage or financial resources and providing exceptional customer service to address inquiries and concerns.

Responsibilities:

• Securely handle and accurately record payments collected during the point-of-service delivery

• Develop a foundational understanding of different health insurance coverage options and related processes

• Address routine/simple patient escalations and perform service recovery as necessary

• Collaborate with experienced team members to escalate advanced or complex registrations

• Greet patients and initiate the registration process, maintaining professional communication with various stakeholders

• Meet weekly productivity and performance indicators while prioritizing tasks as directed by department leadership

• Provide excellent customer service to all individuals encountered during the course of duties

• Perform a combination of responsibilities across all areas of Patient Access Service operations

• Utilize skills like 'Check Patients', 'Patient Access', 'Patient Account', 'EpiCare Inpatient' in daily operations

Requirements • Proficient in providing patient access services, such as patient check-in and check-out, scheduling, and patient account management.

• Experience in using EpiCare Inpatient software to manage patient information.

• Ability to adhere to healthcare compliance and privacy regulations to maintain patient confidentiality.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with patients, their families, and healthcare professionals.

• Demonstrated ability in problem-solving and decision-making to handle patient inquiries and complaints.

• Must have strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and prioritize work effectively.

• Knowledge of medical terminology and insurance practices is highly desirable.

• Must have a high level of accuracy and attention to detail to ensure correct patient records.

• Basic computer skills are required, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent educational level.

• Previous experience in a healthcare setting or patient access role is preferred.

• Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stress effectively.

• Must have a customer service-oriented attitude and a commitment to providing high-quality care to patients.
