Catholic Charities of WNY OUTREACH SPECIALIST- FOSTER GRANDPARENT PROGRAM in New York

Catholic Charities of Buffalo is hiring a Per Diem (15 hours/week) Outreach Specialist for our Foster Grandparent Program for the Family Enrichment / School Based Services department.

Catholic Charities programs include comprehensive counseling services for all ages, basic emergency assistance including operating 8 food pantries, mental health services, chemical dependency treatment, educational and job readiness services, services to older adults, marriage counseling, immigration and refugee assistance and a variety of programs that address prevention and treatment of a number of family issues.

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for coordinating volunteer and station recruitment. Incumbent is further responsible for establishing effective working relationships with the volunteers and community partners. This position r eports t o the Program Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Knows and supports Catholic Charities of Buffalo NY mission, vision and guiding principles.

  • Coordinates foster grandparent assignments including assisting volunteer station staff to develop volunteer assignment plans and volunteer activities.

  • Maintains active involvement with community organizations.

  • Co-facilitate new volunteer orientation for the onboarding of volunteers.

  • Represents the program at public education forums, health fairs and public speaking engagements.

  • Promotes community involvement in the Foster Grandparent Program.

  • Assists in the recruitment of volunteers and partner sites through community outreach and referrals.

  • Develops and grows community partnerships.

  • Composes routine correspondence and other materials. Will copy and file documents and maintains record keeping systems.

  • Incorporates Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) and Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) principles in all program responsibilities.

  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

  • Hybrid position- remote position with meetings onsite or in the community as scheduled

    ACCOUNTABILITIES/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NA

    EDUCATION: Associate's degree in social work, Human Services, Geriatrics, Marketing, or approved related field; bachelor's degree preferred. Persons with less than an associate's degree and significant experience working with older adults may also qualify at the discretion of the agency.

    EXPERIENCE: One (1) year experience working directly with an older adult population and/or coordinating volunteers. Experience collaborating with community organizations/networks preferred.

    SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Volunteer recruitment

  • Community engagement

  • Computer competence including MS Word and basic data entry.

    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Able to exercise independent judgement and decision-making while maintaining effective communication with agency leaders.

  • Will travel throughout the City of Buffalo and first ring suburbs.

  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Valid New York State driver's license with reliable transportation.
