Organization Overview: The Goddard Riverside Community Center (Goddard Riverside) and the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center (Isaacs Center) are well-established Manhattan community-based agencies that support services to approximately 30,000 New Yorkers. Program Description:Goddard Riverside has a host of facilities and venue that include the Bernie Wohl Center, Lincoln Square neighborhood Center, the Stanley Isaacs, Neighborhood Center and a host of other community facilities that are cultural hubs on the Upper West and East Side of Manhattan. Our Venues provide the highest quality programming and performing and visual arts events, and experience and exposure for all people. The most successful candidate will possess a positive and flexible attitude, a commitment to excellence in costumer service, experience or background in technical/production assistance and operating front/back of house for special events, and a passion for serving the community.
Purpose of Position:The ideal candidate is flexible, works well under pressure, and has a passion for serving the community and helping others. The Venue Manager must be able to communicate firmly and effectively with a wide range of individuals and groups. This position oversees aspects of venue management and event production at the direction of Director of Operations and or Facility Manager, including setup, execution, and breakdown of events; greeting and directing guests; staying apprised of a changing event schedule; helping to track attendance data; and reporting on any facility needs. The Venue Manager is integral in helping to create a welcoming, positive, and safe environment for all visitors, guests, and participants.
Hourly Rate: $20.00
Schedule: Per Diem up to 20 hours per week
Roles, Responsibilities, and Essential Duties
1.) Administrative
a. Assist in gathering attendance and other data as needed. Comply with reporting and recordkeeping procedures.
2.) Facilities, Venue Management & Security
a. Represent Goddard Riverside, the Community Arts program and the Bernie Wohl Center to our community members and any guests that visit the Bernie Wohl Center. Proactively greet all visitors, explain and enforce venue and/or organizational safety procedures, and provide basic information as needed. Assist in establishing strong, positive relationships with all of our community members.
b. Provide venue and event management coverage for programming at the Bernie Wohl Center. Support the production and execution of a diverse schedule of events, meetings, rehearsals, auditions, classes, and performances that take place at the Bernie Wohl Center.
c. Maintain knowledge of specific needs for event setup, production, and management. Collaborate, as needed, with A/V technicians, lighting directors, sound engineers, stage managers, teaching artists, and other consultants.
d. In coordination with the Community Arts Associate and Community Arts Manager, assist in the management and maintenance of Community Arts inventory, equipment and facility, including program materials, sound system, stage lighting, musical instruments, costumes and props, tables and chairs, and basic upkeep.
Qualifications/Educational Requirements
Experience with venue and/or event management, preferably in the arts.
Familiarity and ability to work with technical equipment.
Ability to perform basic setups for sound, projection, and stage lighting.
Flexibility and willingness to learn.
Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Ability to work well under pressure.

Computer Skills Needed
Microsoft Office Suite – especially Outlook, Word and Excel
Experience with Eventbrite a plus
Physical Requirements
Ability to see, speak, and hear clearly
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Ability to walk, bend, sit, and stand for prolonged periods as necessary
Ability to climb stairs multiple a times a day
Able to move equipment and connect cables for sound, projection, and lighting
