Citigroup Transaction Monitoring Lead, Spread Products, Director, New York in New York, New York
This role sits within the Global Markets Conduct, Financial Crime and Regulatory Risk area and requires the role holder to manage, develop and leverage conduct related surveillances and monitoring capabilities for Spread Product, using data science disciplines to manage conduct risk across our global business.
Key responsibilities:
The following are some of the specific activities expected of this role:
Manage, lead, and direct the work efforts & development of the Spread Product trade monitoring team
Review & assess risks from the data sets and generated alerts to help manage and control the Spread Product business, and ensure escalation and impactful dialogue where required around events/scenarios
Lead the ongoing run, enhance, and where required new build implementation of the Spread Product controls of the front office transaction monitoring operating model, to surveil trading within the Spread Product business
Leverage structured and unstructured data sources to provide an integrated view to be able to monitor and surveil effectively
Enhance the Spread Product strategy & controls to apply to the analytics/scenarios for uncovering insights and understanding of connection between events, trades, and orders
Behavioral analytics and trend analysis to help uncover hidden behavioral and conduct related threats by individuals or entities (counterparty, trading desk, accounts)
Define & manage Spread Product thematic deep dives around enhanced trade monitoring. Analyse data across thematic issues to support thematic risk assessments or leverage their findings to read across to different areas
Drive and evolve the Spread Product required risk metrics, alongside the other product trade monitoring heads, to ensure efficiencies are achieved and help identify emerging risks
Work with senior management for escalation and early warnings along with gaining approval for the defined approach, plans & budget requirements
Knowledge, Experience & Skills: Excellent understanding of the Markets business across the trade lifecycle, with specific in-depth knowledge of trading.
Able to demonstrate extensive experience of:
Technical & practical experience of Spread Products traded products, having worked within a Spread Products business within the front office
Experience across a range of international developed and emerging markets, including cash and derivative instruments
Good awareness and understanding of the key drivers, industry challenges and opportunities for trade monitoring
Good understanding of market abuse behaviors and roles of 1LoD, 2LoD, and 3LoD.
Experience within the following areas is advantageous:
Experience in developing and reviewing surveillances for global trading businesses and understanding and interaction of the 1LoD
Experience of managing and delivering end to end Regulatory Compliance within the trade monitoring area
Experience in successfully developing, leading and completing significant multiple business change with excellent stakeholder engagement
Skills and Competencies – Must be able to demonstrate extensive experience of:
Strong trading experience
Excellent analytical & problem-solving skills
Utilize analytical problem-solving skills to develop surveilling scenarios for the markets business
Use trading metrics and statistical data to help drive trade monitoring capabilities
Significant attention to detail with an ability to contribute effectively to formative strategic development where necessary
Leadership in a co-operative and collaborative working environment
Communication, Interpersonal and organizational skills to mobilize and motivate delivery
Management and facilitation to achieve objectives, with both local and with remote teams
A practical and goal orientated focus with excellent verbal and written communication skills utilizing different media, to effectively communicate with senior management, clients, and regulators
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience, potentially Masters degree and managerial experience
