The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. Position Summary
The Department of Genetics and Development is looking to hire a Technician B to work in the laboratory of Dr. Kristin K. Baldwin. The Technician will have both administrative and laboratory-based duties.
Responsibilities
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare and maintain common laboratory reagents.
- Assist with general lab management tasks including keeping track of, organizing, and ordering supplies and organizing equipment maintenance, as needed.
- Assume a high degree of responsibility in mouse husbandry: help ensure the maintenance of wild-type and genetically modified mouse lines, organize mating for lab members as needed, and provide assistance to post-docs and graduate students during animal work tasks.
- Assist post-docs and graduate students with benchwork, including cell culture, as required for different projects.
Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related subject area, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous laboratory research experience preferred.
- Experience with pluripotent stem cells and stem cell differentiation protocols.
- Experience handling rodents.
- Familiarity with administrative needs of running a life sciences laboratory.
- Experience with mammalian cell culture (human cells and/or stem cells).
- Experience with basic molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and cloning.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.
