The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Genetics and Development is looking to hire a Technician B to work in the laboratory of Dr. Kristin K. Baldwin. The Technician will have both administrative and laboratory-based duties.

Responsibilities

Duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Prepare and maintain common laboratory reagents.
  • Assist with general lab management tasks including keeping track of, organizing, and ordering supplies and organizing equipment maintenance, as needed.
  • Assume a high degree of responsibility in mouse husbandry: help ensure the maintenance of wild-type and genetically modified mouse lines, organize mating for lab members as needed, and provide assistance to post-docs and graduate students during animal work tasks.
  • Assist post-docs and graduate students with benchwork, including cell culture, as required for different projects.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor's degree in a biological science or related subject area, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous laboratory research experience preferred.
  • Experience with pluripotent stem cells and stem cell differentiation protocols.
  • Experience handling rodents.
  • Familiarity with administrative needs of running a life sciences laboratory.
  • Experience with mammalian cell culture (human cells and/or stem cells).
  • Experience with basic molecular biology techniques, such as PCR and cloning.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills are essential.
