Job Summary

We seek a highly motivated and skilled Technical Writer to join our New York-based Knowledge Management and Training team to deliver exceptional documentation for FreeWheel clients and internal stakeholders. In this role, you will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including product managers, engineers, and solution architects, to gather information and produce top-notch technical documentation, user guides, release notes, and API-related work products. Your passion for simplifying complex technical concepts and working effectively in a dynamic environment will be vital in ensuring that our customers and internal teams can easily understand and make the most of our client resources and offerings.

About our Team

The Knowledge Management (KM) and Training team leverages product expertise and program management skills to drive and deliver best-in-class documentation and education focused on making client users experts using FreeWheel technology. Our clients desire clear, concise, and complete product documentation and training to achieve success in their businesses.

This role is based on site in the New York City office.

This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Applicants must be authorized to work for Comcast in the United States without a current or potential future need for sponsorship.

Core Responsibilities

  • Meet end-to-end documentation requirements, including evaluation and research, content generation (technical writing, diagrams, screenshots, etc.), publication, and follow up

  • Actively engage in Product and Engineering meetings to develop an understanding of FreeWheel’s core products and features

  • Use project management skills to define and meet project milestones, communicate issues and risks in a timely manner, and manage stakeholder expectations

  • Revise documents in a timely way to support ongoing product updates and changes

  • Conduct technical and editorial reviews of KM team documentation output

  • Become a technical documentation subject matter expert in multiple product areas

  • Develop, recommend, implement, and adhere to technical communications documentation standards

  • Coordinate the printing and distribution of both higher-level conceptual and deeper-dive technical documentation

  • Performs editing and quality control functions on department documentation.

  • Review and evaluate system inconsistencies. Recommend changes to improve usability of FreeWheel’s digital systems and technical documentation (manuals, reference guides, newsletters, course work, forms, help aids, and templates)

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

About You

  • 2 – 5 years of experience in a technical content development role

  • Preferred experience includes: knowledge of issues around premium video, including OTT, STB-VOD, CTV and other connected devices; understanding of the programmatic advertising ecosystem, including transaction models and value chain economics and professional experience in programmatic advertising at a major DSP, SSP, exchange, network or publisher

  • Knowledge of technical writing standards and best practices, with a strong attention to detail to adhere to such standards

  • Superb verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to generate innovative technical content that people enjoy consuming

  • Excited to contribute to the development of best-in-class documentation

  • Strong focus on the customer experience, and ensuring that documentation proactively incorporates end user empathy

  • Adaptable. We’re looking for someone who can adjust quickly to changing priorities and thrive in a complex, dynamic environment

  • Passion for learning new products, ideas, and systems, with the ability to translate business objectives and detailed technical information into clear, client-friendly documentation

  • Desire to work directly with others, including Product and Engineering teams, as well as other stakeholders, with the end goal of producing extraordinary content

  • Experience with Postman, Github, Readme, or other API enablement technology is preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Technical Writing, Instructional Design, English, or related field

Proficiencies

  • Experience in documenting technical content, including JSON and XML schemas, APIs, software specifications, product release notes, and product user guides

  • Atlassian products (JIRA, Confluence); ReadMe or similar API documentation platforms, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Smartsheet; diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Draw.io, or OmniGraffle)

  • Ad Tech experience in the digital or linear TV space is strongly preferred.

Salary:

Primary Location Pay Range: $70,824.96 - $106,237.44

Comcast intends to offer the selected candidate base pay within this range, dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience. The application window is 30 days from the date job is posted, unless the number of applicants requires it to close sooner or later.

Base pay is one part of the Total Rewards that Comcast provides to compensate and recognize employees for their work.
