Uber Staff Software Engineer - Grocery Consumer Experience (UberEats) in New York, New York

About the Role

Grocery and Retail Consumer experience org is responsible for ensuring seamless, relevant and magical experience for our consumers on UberEats App globally.

We are looking for a Staff engineer who would play a key role in building and evolving the technical systems, iterate quickly and deliver personalized consumer experiences through the consumer journey. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in building personalized consumer experiences at scale, showcasing a profound understanding of distributed systems and great sense of ownership.

What you will do

  1. Innovate and Build: Identify the areas of improvement, propose northstar solutions and bring them to reality. Your work will be instrumental in crafting a backend infrastructure that supports scalability, reliability, and top-tier performance

  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and develop key features that enhance the personalized consumer experiences

  3. Mentorship and Leadership: As a senior member of the team, you will guide and mentor junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. Your insights will help shape the direction of our engineering practices and influence the next generation of backend developers.

Basic Qualifications

  1. Relevant degree (B.Sc, M.Sc, Ph.D) in Computer Science or related technical field or equivalent practical experience

  2. Experience coding with C++, Java, Python, or Go

  3. Enjoy building high quality software that is relied upon by millions of people around the world

  4. Comfortable working with ambiguity in constantly evolving environment

  5. Experience working in large scale distributed systems

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Experience building personalized consumer experiences at scale

  2. Experience with large-scale eCommerce systems

For New York, NY-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$218,000 per year - USD$242,000 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
