Consolidated Edison Company of New York, Inc. Sr Planning Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis - FP&A Budget & Forecast in New York, New York

Overview

The Sr. Planning Analyst is a key contributor to the company-wide (both CEI and CECONY) development of the annual and five-year budget and forecast including the issuance of budget guidelines, consolidation of budget requests, and preparation of Board materials. On a monthly basis, position consolidates and reports actual performance against budgets and/or forecasts. This position also aggregates various inputs from other departments into financial models and monthly forecasting. Other functions include contributing to corporate updates to senior management, formal presentations on various topics and providing financial knowledge and technical expertise in special studies.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Coordinate forecasts of capital and plant plans utilizing state of the art forecasting/ modeling techniques on an asset class and project/program level and other segments of the net plant balances. Present results to upper management when required
  • Prepare analysis of historical capital spend, depreciation, afudc amounts and costs of removal, or system wide data to assist in developing a complete and accurate database for forecasting.
  • Evaluate and critique econometric and/or end-use forecasting models for internal applications or adoption. Develop and implement new forecasting models as required.
  • Supports the rate case development, negotiation and settlement process for capital and plant related forecasts and analysis. On a monthly basis tracks and reports on net plant performance versus targets established in rates.
  • Verify accuracy and consistency of data used as inputs to the models and forecasts and develop improved methods of gathering/tracking data.
  • Train of other staff members in the section.
  • Assist with monthly accounting close and provide specific information needed to explain variances.
  • Learn new systems as required.
  • Monitor and report on KPls and other performance measures.
  • Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or equivalent. and 3 years or
  • Master's Degree PhD preferably in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or equivalent. and 2 years
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree or PhD preferably in Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Business or equivalent. and 2 years
Relevant Work Experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of full-time financial analyst experience in FP&A or another Finance Organization function is required. and
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience in forecasting/modeling sales or revenue of electric, gas, or steam or equivalent forecasting/analytical experience preferred. and
  • Working knowledge of utility or in-house budget and forecasting systems is preferred. and
  • Knowledge of accounting systems and procedures and regulatory framework/requirements and their impact on financial results is preferred. and
  • Knowledge of plant accounting is a plus.
Licenses And Certfications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within and outside Company service territory, as needed.
