Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:• Experience in scheduling is required. • Experience in a government office is preferred. • The successful candidate will be organized, exceptional writer, and will possess the ability to work in a collaborative environment.• They will have strong interpersonal skills: the ability to speak before large groups and interact with constituents, government agencies and elected official offices with sensitivity.• The successful candidate will be highly self-motivated, able to set and meet internal and external deadlines and work in a fast-paced government office.• They must be flexible with the ability to work evenings and weekends.

Duties Description The Special Assistant will be the primarily responsible for scheduling and work in the district office as a liaison to the Assembly Member’s district. • Maintaining the Assembly Member’s calendar and coordinating scheduling.• Identifying, fielding and thoroughly vetting prospective meetings, venues and public speaking opportunities. • Interfacing with a storefront district office open to the public, addressing and resolving constituent problems, interacting with government agencies, organizations and elected offices.• Drafting letters on behalf of constituents, reports and other correspondence as needed.• Maintaining records of constituent cases through Constituent Relations Management system and other organizational tools. • Building and maintaining strong relationships with community leaders, constituents, agency officials and elected official staffers.• Attending community meetings, including community boards and block associations to speak on behalf of the Assembly Member.• Preparing and presenting testimony on behalf of the Assembly Member at governmental hearings.• Perform other administrative duties as assigned.
