Amazon Software Development Manager in New York, New York

Description

Great advertising helps our customers discover products they will love. The Advertising Support Product team ensures Advertisers can easily use tools to launch their campaigns independently.

You will be responsible for attracting and developing world-class team that welcomes, celebrates, and leverages a diverse set of backgrounds and skillsets to deliver results. You will sit side-by-side with product owners, contributing to the development of the team's roadmap and product strategy.

Key job responsibilities

In this position, you’ll do these things:

· Recruit, hire, mentor, and manage teams of software engineers.

· Foster career growth and a strong team culture.

· Interface with internal customers to understand requirements, set priorities, and communicate direction and progress.

· Own all operational metrics and support for your team’s software.

· Manage the agile development process and methodology to deliver tech requirements on time and with a high-degree of precision and quality.

· Coordinate with stakeholders in other groups, drive alignment across multiple orgs on shared goals and initiatives

· Make long term org design decisions, architectural decisions.

· Help develop long-term business and technology strategies.

· Drive improvements in software engineering practices.

A day in the life

You will stay up to date on the latest trends in industry on Generative AI and Bedrock. On a daily basis the day-to-day activities will include managing projects, shaping the team's agile process, and developing the careers of SDEs on the team.

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years of engineering team management experience

  • 7+ years of engineering experience

  • 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy

  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
