NBC Universal SNY Staff Accountant in New York, New York

SNY is an Emmy Award winning, multiplatform regional sports network serving millions of homes throughout the New York Metropolitan area and across the country through unparalleled and exclusive coverage of the New York Mets, New York Jets, UConn women’s basketball and all things New York sports.

We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented Staff Accounting to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in managing the accounts payable function, ensuring smooth processing of invoices, and assisting with various financial tasks. This position will offer the opportunity to work closely with vendors, internal teams, and senior management, contributing to the financial integrity and efficiency of SNY’s operations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinate Accounts Payable function for entire organization, including managing workflow of all invoices through internal Accounts Payable processing database

  • Work with vendors ensuring they are in compliance with vendor set-up requirements and troubleshooting issues with processing of invoices

  • Answer vendor inquiries and research payment issues to ensure account balances with vendors are current

  • Code all invoices, facilitate invoice approval process

  • Generate external invoices for miscellaneous company billings

  • Manage purchase order system and track the issuance of company purchase orders

  • Review and process all expense reports ensuring compliance with company travel and expense policy

  • Assist in month-end close process including recording accruals, preparing journal entries and reviewing General Ledger transactions

  • Utilize SAP to do vendor inquiries, General Ledger account analyses and reporting

  • Assist in annual budget preparation and analysis

  • Assist with preparation of internal financial reporting package

  • Perform analysis of event costs, travel and expense accounts

  • Track capital project spending

  • Manage seasonal interns

  • Other ad hoc duties and responsibilities as assigned

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field

  • 2+ years of hands-on accounting experience preferred

  • Proficient in MS Windows environment and advanced MS Excel skills

DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:

  • Proficiency in SAP or similar accounting software

  • Experience with Concur or other expense reporting system is a plus

  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and manage time effectively

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize

  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

  • Solid work ethic, positive attitude and leadership capabilities

Hybrid: This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.

In accordance with applicable NYC law, the estimated base salary range for this role is $55,000 - $75,000 commensurate with experience. This position is bonus eligible.
