HarperCollins Publishers Senior Marketing Manager in New York, New York

Overview

The role encompasses ownership of our dynamic retail partner Events program, building bookseller relationships and growing our Instagram presence @harperplusbooksellers, and supporting cross channel sales and imprint marketing initiatives.The ideal candidate will be highly organized, creative, and adept at multitasking, with strong communication skills and a passion for engaging stakeholders both internal and external.

Responsibilities

Event Management

  • Oversees and owns the entire retail seasonal event workflow, including setting Edelweiss deadlines, providing publicity with tour & market insights, attending seasonal event planning meetings, notifying accounts when event grids are open for requests, communicates deadlines with sales reps, collaborating with sales staff to provide account insights to publicity, manage event stock projections and reserves, troubleshooting with the author events team as needed.

  • Serves as the primary contact to accounts, sales and publicity departments for all event feedback and works to problem solve when needed.

  • Execute event ROI process sending monthly internal flashes that provides insights on our retail events program attendance and sales. Identifying opportunities for growth, and insights into harnessing momentum.

  • Executes yearly presentations to publicity teams that provide current insights into accounts and retail event needs.

  • Attends local events 2x weekly adjusting schedule as needed.

Instagram Ownership

  • Develop and execute a strategic Instagram strategy with a goal of engaging with the independent bookselling community.

  • Create, curate, and manage all published content (images, videos, stories, and written) that represent the voice, personality and reading tastes of the retail marketing team.

  • Monitor Instagram analytics to assess performance, gain insights, and adjust strategies as needed and internally communicating successes and growth.

Marketing Support:

  • Work with specific HarperCollins imprints on Retail Marketing Strategies for the independent bookselling channel.

  • Collaborate with imprint marketing teams to implement results-oriented marketing efforts, including but not limited to : preorder campaigns, retail merchandising strategies, galley mailings, and title specific campaign support.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience in publishing or related field and/or event management. Bookselling experience a plus!

  • Strong understanding of Instagram and other social media platforms.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficiency in using social media management tools and analytics platforms.

  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with colleagues across various departments and external partners.

Preferred Skills:

  • Edelweiss

  • Experience in Canva, MS Office

  • Knowledge of digital marketing strategies and tools.

  • Prior experience in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

The salary range for this position is $80,000–$90,000. We recognize that attracting the best talent is key to our strategy and success as a company. As a result, we aim for flexibility in structuring competitive compensation offers to ensure we are able to attract the best candidates. The quoted salary range represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect, and we tailor our offers within the range based on the selected candidate's experience, industry knowledge, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the interview process.
