Overview
University Development and Alumni Relations (UDAR) is dedicated to soliciting the private funding necessary to support the strategic goals of the University in teaching, learning, and research. The personnel of UDAR work university-wide as well as within individual schools and colleges of the University to discover, motivate, cultivate, solicit, and steward alumni, parents, faculty, and friends for immediate, long-range, and future financial support, through gifts and pledges to the University, for critical operations such as student aid, faculty support, academic and research program development, and facilities and infrastructure. UDAR's endeavors raise funds for immediate University use and also for the University's endowment.
The Senior Director of Development, Parent and Family Philanthropy, provides strategic and managerial leadership for a parent philanthropy program focused on engaging, identifying, cultivating, and soliciting high-net-worth parents, guardians, and family members of undergraduate student for gifts of $100K - $5M for priorities across NYU. Refine and build upon the existing strategic family fundraising plan. Conduct a minimum of 90 meetings in person or virtually for the purpose of qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, with progressively ambitious fundraising goals. Liaise directly with key donors and prospects, volunteer leaders, and University leaders. Provide direction, mentoring, and professional support for Parent and Family Philanthropy Team. Partner closely with colleagues across UDAR, including School and Institute fundraisers, Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, Prospect Development, and Advancement Services.
Responsible for oversight of the Parents Executive Council (PEC), a group of philanthropic families who serve as ambassadors for NYU and provide support for priorities across the University. Management of the PEC, in partnership with the team, includes liaising with the PEC chairs, event planning, developing targeted engagement opportunities, and ensuring ongoing cultivation and stewardship of members. Develop, define, and track annual and multi-year metrics and goals to ensure the Parent and Family Philanthropy program is effectively building a community of parents engaged in volunteerism, leadership, and philanthropy at NYU. Collaborate closely with colleagues to develop strategies for parents and family members in their portfolios and provide special strategic support for the AVPs of Development, VP of Development, and SVP of UDAR as they cultivate high-net-worth parents. This position will involve travel as University policy allows and is reasonably justified towards building relationships and developing philanthropy.

Responsibilities
Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience:
7+ years experience in major gift fundraising/campaign work, especially with parents and families, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Experience:
Experience building a parent leadership giving program in a University setting
Documented individual major gift results

Excellent interpersonal skills required to relate to colleagues, donors, volunteers, and senior UDAR and University leadership
Ability to consistently exercise diplomacy and discretion
Demonstrated personal commitment to excellence, as well as an ability to admit mistakes and forgive faults in others
Demonstrated affinity for collaboration, leading through influence, and a high level of emotional intelligence
Demonstrated ability to advancing solutions across a complex organization with professionalism and patience
Ability to travel as required

Fundraising in higher education, or other academic environment
Qualifications
In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $155,000.00 to USD $195,000.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
