Senior Director of Business Development

This role is for a new commercial business being launched by Capital One. In this role you will work across the organization to develop and refine a go-to-market strategy for winning customers and partners across different industry verticals. This role is a mix of sales, business development, partnerships and sales operations. You will prospect new commercialization opportunities which align with our strategy and work with internal teams to move prospects through the funnel. You will collect feedback from our commercial partners and prospects, and work closely with the product team to optimize product to market fit. You will also be responsible for standing up a sales operations function and determine how to build a scalable and well managed go to market plan.

As a Capital One Senior Director of Business Development, you’ll have the opportunity to be on the forefront of building this business and bring these tools to market. An ideal candidate is comfortable working in a new business area while being able to navigate the processes of a large organization.

Responsibilities:

Proven track record in B2B sales and business development

Experience in developing and executing Go-To-Market strategies

Familiarity in leveraging CRM and lead tracking solutions to manage customer opportunities

Experience in negotiating, drafting, and reviewing sales proposals and partnership agreements

Strong presentation and negotiation skills

Proven track record of partnering with product and engineering teams to provide and solicit customer feedback

Strong networking and relationship building skills

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or Military experience

At least 7 years of GTM, Sales or Consulting experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Masters Degree

Experience in Strategy Consulting or Business Analysis or Corporate Strategy

Experience as a founder or executive focused on related segments, or as a practice leader or business unit owner

End-to-end deal experience, including identifying, developing, and executing successful partnerships such as licensing deals, complex digital media transactions, and strategic technology relationships

Experience in strategic business development, product management, investment banking, legal or other fields that involve commercial partnership negotiations

Experience leading cross-functional groups to debate tradeoffs, drive alignment and make high-judgment decisions related to critical partnerships/projects

Financial experience with the ability to analyze income, balance sheet and cash flow statements. Can construct an operating P&L, model deals, and articulate cost/benefit analyses

Proficiency with technology and experience working with engineering and technical leaders

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

New York City (Hybrid On-Site): $272,600 - $311,200 for Sr. Director, Bus Development

San Francisco and San Jose, California (Hybrid On-Site): $288,800 - $329,600 for Sr. Director, Bus Development

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
