Position Summary

The Park Lab in the Department of Neurology is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented full time Research Assistant (RA) to join our dynamic and diverse team. The RA will assist the lab in running multiple funded research projects.

The ideal candidate is able to pay close attention to details, display strong interpersonal communication skills, and is proficient in juggling multiple projects and priorities. This position is ideal for recent graduates looking to gain more research experience, pursue further graduate studies, or further their medical career. Most importantly, we seek someone with an eagerness and curiosity to learn, as everything about this job is teachable!

The Park Lab's mission is to derive actionable information from healthcare data to improve efficiency and quality of care in hospitalized or critically ill patients. Using monitoring devices and digitized patient data, we implement statistical and machine learning decision support tools to detect physiologic state changes and identify opportunities for early intervention to change outcome. Our team is committed to advancing groundbreaking research in neurology, and we are excited about welcoming a new team member to our lab.

Responsibilities

Their duties and responsibilities include briefing patients on the various research studies and obtaining informed consent; handling data entry, query, and management using multiple electronic data capture systems; collecting physiologic data at the bedside; and establishing and maintaining communication with hospital staff to ensure day-to-day patient updates are recorded.

  • Screening and enrolling subjects for clinical research study
  • Research transcranial dopplers
  • Physiologic data acquisition
  • Data query & management
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree and at least 1.5 years of related experience, or an equivalent in education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to work in teams and flexible
  • Preferred majors in Computer Science, Engineering, Neuroscience, Statistics, or Informatics.
  • Spanish Speaking

Other Requirements

  • Knowledge of various related laboratory procedures and techniques required
  • Must be organized
  • Computer skills are required including proficiency with MS-Word, MS-Excel, Outlook, and MS-PowerPoint
  • Computer skills that are desired include SQL, Python , R, or MATLAB
  • Maintaining confidentiality, privacy and integrity while working with confidential patient data.
