Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Program Coordinator.The Aging Research in Sleep Equity & Dementia Prevention (ARISE-DP) Program aims to translate clinical, community based, and epidemiologic research findings for the prevention of Alzheimer's Disease & Related Dementias (ADRD) across all populations with the goal of reducing sleep and ADRD disparities.

The ARISE-DP program develops innovative population-level interventions including designing and testing culturally tailored point-of-care diagnostics, as well as developing treatment/preventive methods to improve sleep quality, reduce the occurrence of Obstructive Sleep Apnea, hypertension, inflammation and stress - all of which are novel therapeutic targets for Alzheimer's Disease (AD).


The core pillars of ARISE-DP include Scientific Research, Training and Collaborations.
The Program Coordinator will facilitate the coordination of the ARISE-DP program across its pillars of scientific research, training and collaborations. The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the study team on a range of NIH and foundation funded studies with programmatic research targeting sleep
health and ADRD reduction, coordinate the training infrastructure for academic pipeline opportunities that support scholars from undergraduate to faculty levels in sleep and neuroscience research, as well as bridge the gap between research and the community.
Responsibilities include maintaining and growing an extensive program of recruitment sources, community engagement
in the New York Metropolitan area through which we recruit older African Americans into both longitudinal cohort and cross-sectional studies, as well as and social media engagement with the scientific and lay community at-large. The position will assist with training and assisting student interns and research staff in carrying out their responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Coordination of the ARISE-DP program across its pillars of scientific research, training and collaborations.

Work with the Principal Investigator (PI) and the study team on a range of NIH and foundation funded studies with programmatic research targeting sleep health and ADRD reduction

Coordinate the training infrastructure for academic pipeline opportunities that support scholars from undergraduate to faculty levels in sleep and neuroscience research

Maintain and grow an extensive program of recruitment sources, and community engagement in the New York Metropolitan area Work with the PI and study to oversee study participant retention strategies

Mail study recruitment materials, and other study-related materials to participants.

Liaise with the Community Steering Community and stakeholder consultants in each of the boroughs in the New York Metropolitan area

Liaise with community organizations including churches, older-adult living facilities, sororities etc. to bring bimonthly to monthly educational and outreach opportunities to the community

Organize outreach events including health fairs, health educational sessions, and recruitment events

Liaise with NYUGSoM and NYU Institute of Excellence in Health Equity community engagement team to recruit in-house physicians, nurses, students and other allied health volunteers to participate in community health fairs, health educational sessions, and recruitment events

Interact with patient/subject and families in a courteous and professional manner. Collaborate with various personnel that may be involved in assisting with specific aspects in the study.

Recruit and screen potential participants for eligibility to the study remotely and in-person.

May complete assessments on study subjects/patients per protocol (with proper training); continue to follow through with items and patients as part of research study.

Assist with the informed consent process and ensure that the subject fully understands what is required of them throughout the study.

Ensure protocol compliance. Follow standard steps regarding eligibility criteria, follow up process, and documentation.

Support the day-to-day operations of the projects.

Maintain a thorough knowledge of the research study and procedures.

Provide materials for IRB submissions and maintain regulatory records and activities.

Act, as an internal auditor during quarterly internal audits for other studies, is aware of study regulatory status and keeps an up to date copy of regulatory documents.

Assist the PI in carrying out all aims of the project(s).

Participate in publications and research presentations, if interested.

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in business administration, health care administration or related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook. Familiar with Internet applications. Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills. Ability to interface effectively with all levels of management and must work and communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently. Time management skills and ability to work well under pressure. Ability to Project/Program manage and to multitask while paying attention to details.

Preferred Qualifications:
Project/Program management experience preferred.
Prior training and experience in psychology, neuroscience, and epidemiology (neuro-epidemiology, social epidemiology, etc.) preferred.
An interest in the study of sleep, aging and Alzheimer's disease prevention and health equity is preferred.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $64,350.00 - $66,144.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
