Purpose of Role:

The Prime Margin Risk Manager will lead the development of a first (1st) level risk management framework for the Prime Clearing business. Together with our control partners, ensure the correct risk framework is in place for client selection as well the overall management of the business.

The Prime Services department is a full-service Prime Broker providing services to hedge funds, professional traders, family offices, mutual funds, etc. In addition, Prime Services provides trading execution services, clearing & settlement, reporting, financing, stock loan, and comprehensive, high-touch client service.

Responsibilities:

  • Enhance the decision-making process for allocation of financial resources to optimize the Prime's risk adjusted returns.

  • Work with Risk and Credit teams to calibrate margin and risk methodologies.

  • Evaluate new business opportunities based on portfolio risk, strategy, client creditworthiness, return metrics, etc.

  • Participate in marketing efforts and take part in client pitches.

  • Daily review of client portfolios to assess risk levels and work with coverage to ensure the appropriate steps are taken to guarantee compliance

  • Periodic review client pricing to ensure targeted metrics are achieved and the “risk adjust rate of return” is acceptable; modify client pricing engine as needed.

  • Review and optimize the utilization of scarce resources including balance sheet, working capital, etc. Be involved in finance charging models and client profitability analysis against scarce resource consumption.

  • Work with control partners to develop return targets and ensure client base is at or above these level

  • Collaborate with Product Management, Risk, Technology, etc. to ensure our “Dashboard” includes the required risk information/metrics for the client base; ensure the “Dashboard” provides the required alerts to ensure the coverage teams have the needed information to take the required action when needed.

  • Discover gaps and continually revise/improve existing prime infrastructure.

  • Liaising with clients in the US and other countries as appropriate.; clients include banks, hedge funds, market makers, fund managers, institutional, trading houses, professional traders, family offices, and other trading boutiques.

  • Ensuring compliance with the company's regulatory requirements under the SEC, FINRA, NFA, CFTC and other applicable exchanges.

  • Adhere to the operational risk framework for your role ensuring that all regulatory or company determined parameters are complied with.

Required Qualifications

  • Excellent knowledge and experience in Global Markets or Prime Services is essential.

  • Broad knowledge of the systems and business processes in use for Front, Mid and Back-Office functions within Prime Services.

  • Ability to concisely explain and present complex issues to senior business partners and leaders within our Prime Services to affect change and grow our Prime Service division.

  • Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects under pressure.

  • Bachelor's Degree with either a technical major such Computer Science, Information Systems Management or equivalent experience can be substituted with a demonstrated pursuit of on-going education, certification, or technical learning.

  • Excellent troubleshooting skills are a must (deductive reasoning skills must be excellent)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of working within a Prime Brokerage Service role.

  • Deep knowledge of Financial Markets and related systems – especially Equity Clearing / Prime Brokerage Services.

  • Experience working with the following Service Providers is a plus:

  • Broadridge (BPS) and BPS/a

  • HUMA (QlikView, WhiteBox Rapport, nPrinting) or other ETL tools

  • TRAFiX, Silexx, Rival, Redi, Bloomberg EMSX, DeepSystems, etc.

  • MultiMedia

  • Softek

  • Worked with Financial standard protocols and data exchanges formats like FIX (FIXML), FPML.

  • Excellent Project Management skills.

Salary Range: $175,000 to $250,000 per year base salary and eligible for discretionary bonus.
