Candidates who live near CB offices have the option of being fully remote or hybrid (Tuesday and Wednesday in office)Type:This is a full-time term position that will last for 1 years from the start date.About the TeamGlobal Policy and External Relations (GPER) is a close-knit team of policy and government relations professionals who drive policy proposals and appropriation priorities from design to implementation. Our core capabilities are policy design and adoption to reach a broader group of students, field and subject-matter expertise to help College Board programs innovate and adapt, and advocacy and policy implementation to build and maintain a powerful network of external allies that will help us advance our organizational goals. About the OpportunityAs one of our year-long Policy Fellows, you have a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment while gaining real-world experience with policy development, K-12 education, higher education, policy research, and government relations. You play a critical role in assisting the Policy team in researching, generating, and advancing policy ideas that clear a path for all students to own their future. You strengthen the team's capacity by developing specialized expertise in key policy areas related to K-12 and/or postsecondary issues.The fellowship will run from June 3, 2025 to May 31, 2026.In this role, you will:Policy Research and Analysis (60%)Conduct literature reviews and policy scans on issues related to K-12 education, college readiness, access, and successDevelop deeper specialization in 1-2 policy issues that affect College Board programs (examples include data privacy and teacher policy)Assist team subject-matter experts in analyzing state-level legislation related to the policy issuesAttend and summarize education-related meetings and Congressional hearings on behalf of College BoardAnalyze quantitative and qualitative data to inform policy analysis, policy development, and advocacyCreate compelling evidence-based advocacy materials to support the College Board's advocacy effortsStrategy (30%)Develop an independent culminating project focused on advancing opportunity for underrepresented students - including low-income students, students of color, and students who are the first in their families with a chance to graduate from collegeCollaborate with top, national experts in education policy to develop research and advocacy ideas and/or policy recommendationsAnalyze the policy area for strengths and opportunities and craft recommendations and an implementation plan to present to key College Board stakeholdersAdministrative Work (10%)Work with and support the team to capture critical information, notes, next steps and pre-readsRegularly coordinate with the team and other internal partners to execute projects or slide decksFulfill routine data and information requests from stakeholdersAbout YouYou Have:Preference to applicants who are recent 2024 or 2025 graduate of a graduate program exploring public policy or education policyGeneral knowledge of K-12 and/or higher education issues from a state- or national-levelFamiliarity or awareness of data privacy legislation OR teacher policy OR high school course taking and graduation requirements a plus.Demonstrated experience in examining educational challenges faced by underrepresented studentsStrong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision-making and prioritizationExcellent written and oral communication skills; and ability to analyze and succinctly summarize key data pointsAvailable to travel 5-6 times during the fellowship year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board businessAuthorization to work in the United StatesAbout Our ProcessApplication review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filledWhile the hiring process may vary, it generally includes: resume and application submission, recruiter phone/video screen, hiring manager interview, performance exercise such as live coding, a panel interview, a conversation with leadership and reference checks.About Our Benefits and CompensationCollege Board offers a competitive benefits and compensation program that attracts top talent looking to make a difference in education.
