BlackRock’s Multi-Asset Strategies & Solutions (MASS) business is the investment group at the heart of BlackRock's portfolio construction, asset allocation, and active management ecosystem. MASS draws on BlackRock’s full toolkit of investment capabilities to deliver precise investment outcomes and innovative insights. Our team of 300+ multi-asset investment professionals constructs active asset allocation strategies and whole portfolio solutions across a wide spectrum of commingled funds, separate accounts, model portfolios, and outsourcing solutions in the wealth and institutional channels. Team Overview:
The Americas Endowments, Foundations, and Healthcare (“EFH”) Outsourced Chief Investment Office (“OCIO”) Team constructs and manages whole portfolio solutions using Blackrock and third-party managers across public and private markets. In OCIO, we serve as an extension of the client’s staff, partnering on asset allocation, manager selection, tactical investments, and private market portfolio construction and allocations, among other services. We seek to help our clients achieve their missions through better investment performance, scale, and efficiency, packaged inside of a deep partnership. Role Description, Responsibilities & Qualifications:
This role offers a unique blend of client-facing engagement and multi-asset portfolio management. The Team is looking for a motivated individual to play a key role owning and supporting many phases of our investment process – both for existing clients and to help win new clients. This individual will contribute to research and analysis, create engaging investment content, present analyses to our clients, and find ways to improve efficiency and timeliness of deliverables, This is a great opportunity for someone with deep investment interest, a resourceful problem solver, strong communication and quantitative skills. The role is on a dynamic and entrepreneurial team, offers exposure to multi-asset investing (including alternatives), and involves working closely with team members, institutional account managers, and end clients.
Responsibilities:
Be accountable for, own, and support the creation and delivery of customized investment solutions to current and prospective OCIO clients, including work on strategic asset allocations, portfolio construction, manager blending, and private markets allocations for clients and prospects.
Develop an in-depth knowledge of the full suite of solutions offered by BlackRock and third-party managers across public and private markets.
Engage with internal teams throughout BlackRock to address investment and reporting challenges.
Lead projects (client and research) and sections of client meetings as well as partner with more senior and more junior team members on the planning and execution of client materials.
Play a prominent role in RFPs and pitch materials to contribute to business growth.
Contribute to product design as well as the improvement of existing product offerings and servicing.
Understand and contextualize the broader themes, trends, and competitive landscape for U.S. endowment, foundation, and healthcare systems and the broader OCIO market.
Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, the EFH team, and key partner teams.
Work with our New York, San Francisco, and Gurgaon based team members to grow and scale the business and optimally service clients.
Qualifications:
Familiarity with asset classes and institutional investment strategies across equity, fixed income and alternatives (including private markets) alongside an understanding of multi-asset asset allocation, portfolio construction, risk and performance measurement.
A keen interest and curiosity in markets, economics, current affairs, and global mega trends.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to connect with different audiences (internally and externally), adapt style of communication, and articulate sophisticated concepts simply.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills; comfortable building and working on quantitative analyses as well as understanding and working through new client and investment challenges.
Organized, able to manage multiple projects, and diligent, with the ability to take initiative, prioritize effectively, multi-task efficiently and adapt to new situations in a fast-paced environment.
Self-motivated individual with a proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and professional demeanor.
Great teammate who takes a collaborative and cooperative approach but can also work independently.
Tools: Expertise in modelling using Excel. Proficient in PowerPoint for developing customized client materials. Experience with visualization and dashboarding tools like tableau/PowerBI and/or experience in coding languages (Python, VBA, etc.) would be a plus.
5-8 years of asset management experience involving client-facing communication, risk analysis, portfolio construction, performance analysis and/or investment research.
Degree or equivalent higher-level qualification and proven record of academic achievement. Achievement of CFA/CAIA/FRM or equivalent qualifications preferred. Series 7 & 63 required or expected to be obtained within 6 months of hire.
For New York, NY Only the salary range for this position is USD$155,000.00 - USD$210,000.00 . Additionally, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, and benefits including heath care, leave benefits, and retirement benefits. BlackRock operates a pay-for-performance compensation philosophy and your total compensation may vary based on role, location, and firm, department and individual performance.
