ESPN, Inc. Media Manager in New York, New York

The ESPN Media team combines the power of brand building and performance marketing through integrated planning, audience understanding and measurement to drive results.

Position Summary:

The ESPN Media team is tasked with driving new subscriber growth for ESPN+. The team is responsible for the planning, execution and optimization of user acquisition, retention and performance marketing campaigns. The ideal candidate has a passion for the digital media landscape and understands the intricacies and unique attributes of every step in the marketing funnel. The successful candidate will bring a highly analytical, creative, and flexible growth mindset to the role, which will be critical to delivering breakthrough thinking.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive digital media strategies, with a focus on programmatic and social channels, to meet performance goals and drive user acquisition and retention for ESPN+ Effectively manage media budgets, optimizing spend across different channels to maximize ROI and meet campaign objectives

  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team (in-house and external agency) to plan and implement tactical media plans with excellence

  • Develop a test and learn roadmap to continuously improve the efficiency and incrementality of media campaigns; including but not limited to creative, messaging and audience targeting

  • Assess campaign performance in real-time through regular reporting, provide feedback on optimizations to ensure plans deliver on KPIs, and develop insights for future campaigns

  • Understand and implement audience strategies, particularly as they pertain to media targeting, including 1P and 3P data usage

  • Monitor and report on the performance of digital performance marketing campaigns

  • Work closely with creative teams to ensure that ad creatives align with campaign objectives and resonate with target audiences.

  • Manage media-specific documents, including media plans, objectives, strategy decks, and related functions

  • Implement attribution models and measurement techniques to assess the impact of media campaigns on key business metrics

  • Effectively communicate plans, targets, and expectations to external agencies and cross-functional partners

  • Co-lead a team of performance media buyers

Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of relevant advertising agency or client-side media experience

  • Exceptional understanding of the Sports/Entertainment landscape

  • Firm understanding of media buying across paid channels

  • Advanced understanding of the media ecosystems - e.g. CDP, DMP, DSPs

  • Firm of understanding of media optimization tactic

  • Works well under pressure

  • Strong analytic abilities, having a good grasp on a variety of media KPIs and how plans should be developed to best meet set forth KPIs

  • Analytical and process oriented

  • Strong initiative and results oriented

  • Clear communicator with ability to articulate ideas, rationale and nuance

  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills

Required Education :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in marketing, media, communications or relevant field

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $86,400.00 to $118,600.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
