Job Description:

Global Markets Credit provides best-of-class service to business partners in TD Bank Financial Group, including TD Securities. Global Markets Credit is a dynamic team responsible for the new business due diligence and ongoing monitoring of counterparties across the Financial Institutions, Non-bank Financial Institution and Funds sectors. Global Markets Credit contributes to the Group's strong risk culture by identifying, assessing, and mitigating counterparty credit risks.

The Managing Director – Global Market Credit is a senior member of a team of credit analysts that evaluate and facilitate the credit requirements for TD Securities' Global Markets businesses within the Groups' risk appetite and strategies. The Managing Director works closely with key stakeholders, including Global Markets business lines, Relationship Managers, Global Markets Documentation, Credit Risk Management/Risk Management and Market Risk Control in assessing trading, derivative, and financing transactions.

Depth & Scope:

  • Responsible for the prudent management of a portfolio of hedge fund counterparties that are active users of capital markets products, including derivatives (foreign exchange, interest rate, equity derivatives); financing products (securities borrowing and lending and repurchase transactions) and margin financing via prime brokerage. This may also include a portfolio of fund financing lending activities and related structures.

  • Conduct market, industry, and counterparty due diligence as part of comprehensive credit assessment.

  • Review counterparty credit submissions and recommendations to ensure requests are within the business line strategies, credit risk polices and with appropriate risk ratings.

  • Oversee and monitor the ongoing performance of counterparties to ensure compliance with all terms and conditions of the credit authorization, and to ensure that the risk ratings for the assigned counterparty remain accurate.

  • Review credit terms included in relevant trading and/or lending agreements to ensure appropriate risk mitigating terms are incorporated as required per trading/lending product policies.

  • Interact with Global Markets business lines, Credit Risk Management/Risk Management, Global Markets Documentation, Legal, Compliance and Operations to structure transactions to mitigate counterparty and various other risks as applicable.

  • Engage in active discussion with Global Markets business lines and Credit Risk Management / Risk Management on credit and policy requests, strategy, and active risk issues.

  • Act in a leadership capacity for Global Markets Credit by participating in market and credit risk related forums, business initiatives and working groups.

  • Lead a team of credit analysts, develop and train team members, and foster a collaborative team environment.

  • Participate in regulatory and internal audit exams of the Global Markets Credit function.

  • Keep apprised of industry trends through participation in industry forums and conferences.

Education & Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in Business (Accounting or Finance) or Mathematics/Economics

  • 20+ years of relevant industry experience

  • Series 7, 79 and 63
