Company HQ: 4 World Trade Center, 150 Greenwich Street, New York, NY 10007Job Title: Manager, Tax Location: Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S. Job Duties: Assist in managing the implementation of tax planning opportunities and driving process efficiencies related to domestic and foreign operations. Prepare and review U.S. withholding tax calculations, annual information returns, and internal withholding tax procedures. Collaborate with corporate development and legal teams to develop and implement acquisition structuring and post-acquisition integration plans to optimize Spotify's tax position. Collaborate with tax reporting and compliance teams in preparing and reviewing direct tax calculations, including income, digital service taxes, and other ad-hoc taxes. Monitor U.S., state, and international tax legislation, analyzing potential impacts & benefits, and helping implement mitigation or action plans for the company. Coordinate with third-party tax advisors on various tax projects and assisting with information gathering. Serve as a strategic business partner, advising, and guiding domestic and international business teams in tax-related issues, policies, and procedures. Collaborate with FP&A, accounting, and treasury, and preparing tax-efficient cash utilization and cash collection across the global organization and guiding tax cash forecasting models. Communicate tax advice on structuring acquisitions, legal entity set-ups and revenue collection hubs and other global investment initiatives to various stakeholders. Research technical tax issues and preparing internal position memos and presentations. Collaborate closely with other members of the tax team as well as accounting and other Spotify teams as needed. *Telecommuting role to be performed anywhere in the U.S. Domestic and international travel required 10% of the time.Job requirements: Master's degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Tax, or a related field and five (5) years of experience as a tax associate, tax analyst, or a related role OR Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Accounting, Tax, or a related field and seven (7) years of experience as a tax associate, tax analyst, or a related role. Must have five (5) years (or 7 with Bachelor’s) of experience with: utilizing tax planning software and tools, including One Source and Thomson Reuters; reviewing tax compliance requirements and recommending changes in line with regulatory updates; working with shared service center (offshore team); preparing and reviewing quarterly public accounting journal entries, account reconciliations, financial trend analysis, and Financial Statement footnotes; analyzing account fluctuations, including foreign exchange rate fluctuations; sourcing, gathering, arranging, processing, and modeling big data using Excel; utilizing tax research software and tools such as Checkpoint, Bloomberg, CCH; and writing comprehensive tax technical memos to document and explain tax planning strategies. Must have three (3) years (or 5 with Bachelor’s) of experience with: process improvements around Finance and Accounting operations; major Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system; presenting tax planning projects to senior management; accounting in accordance to IFRS standards, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and regulatory guidelines; and revenue, accounts receivable and payment processes.
