Capital One Services, LLC Manager, Product Management, Authorizations Data Platform in New York, New York

11 West 19th Street (22008), United States of America, New York, New York

Manager, Product Management, Authorizations Data Platform

The Authorizations platform is responsible for millions of spend decisions for COF credit and debit cards each day. Our mission is to "unleash customer spend while making the best decision on each and every auth." In less than one second, our platform harnesses the power of big data, sophisticated rulesets, and machine learning to achieve this goal. In doing so, we empower internal customers across fraud and credit teams to implement dynamic authorization policies that reduce fraud loss, enable higher spend, and enhance customer experience - all while appropriately managing risk.

One of the greatest areas of opportunity to unlock additional value from this platform is to improve the speed and reliability by which new data can be made available for authorizations decisions. To help reach that goal, we are seeking a tech-driven, data-minded product manager. This individual will define, deliver, and own the future of our data ingestion and transformation capabilities.

In this role, you'll be expected to demonstrate proficiency in five key areas while performing your responsibilities:

  • Human Centered

    • You'll develop a deep understanding of the customer journey in using the authorizations platform to execute business policy; this will span personas including product managers, engineers, business analysts, and data scientists

    • You'll define clear, actionable problem statements that are rooted in the voice of the customer and form the foundation of the roadmap

    • You'll leverage customer insights to influence priorities and roadmap development while advocating for and driving alignment between stakeholders in the development of acceptance criteria

  • Business Focused

    • You'll leverage knowledge of how authorizations create business value in order to own and prioritize the near-term product roadmap, utilizing data effectively to define success metrics and measurable outcomes

    • You'll utilize balanced judgment in decisions about risks of both actions taken and not taken while innovating on ways to iterate faster in a well-managed way for the immediate team

    • In addition to iteratively improving the platform, you'll support internal customers in their everyday use of the platform to deliver initiatives that create business value

  • Technology Driven

  • Your strong technical aptitude and understanding of big data practices will shape end-state architecture vision and help drive design decisions in partnership with engineering

  • You'll maintain a keen awareness of the Capital One enterprise data ecosystem to ensure we are following best practices and adopting enterprise tools wherever possible

  • You'll share business strategy and roadmap with tech partners to establish context while also leading and facilitating agile ceremonies alongside your tech lead

  • You'll deliver value by creating reusable, extensible, and resilient capabilities and proactively identify opportunities when key metrics on security, resilience and performance are not meeting expectations

  • Integrated Problem Solving

    • You'll strive for constant clarity in ensuring the "why" and "so what" behind behind all of your team's work aligns to the product strategy

    • You'll incorporate considerations and inputs from many stakeholders, spanning business and technical domains, to inform holistic solutions and strategy

  • Transformational Leadership

    • You'll develop and communicate the vision, product strategy, and roadmap for batch data capabilities in Authorizations to senior leadership and stakeholders

    • You'll develop strong partnerships with our internal customers across multiple credit and fraud teams to deliver features that maintain and improve the platform

    • You'll contribute to team culture and recruiting by leading activities to attract and retain top talent across engineering and product, including mentoring and developing junior associates

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or military experience

  • At least 3 years of product management experience or at least 3 years of experience in product design, agile delivery, business analysis, data science, or software engineering

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA or Master's degree

  • 2+ years of experience in Agile product management
