Position Summary

As a core member of the Global People Team, you are tasked with helping White & Case translate our business strategy into talent imperatives that deliver on our 2025 vision of profitable growth, engaged people and outstanding client relationships.

You will lead the talent agenda for your assigned section/business and support the leadership to develop, engage and progress the best and brightest employees.

You will work closely with leadership and the employee base to implement the growth agenda and optimize the size, shape and utilization (if applicable) of your business segment through recruitment, talent management, and work allocation.

Equally, you will be an advocate for the employees in your business(es) to ensure they receive the training, experiences and coaching they need for progression and continued success in the Firm.

You will help identify issues and opportunities and take part in designing and implementing section/department/office specific initiatives and globally aligned programs to drive cultural change and engagement across the Firm.

You will work collaboratively across the People team throughout all of the above by sharing best practices, leveraging backgrounds and skills sets to achieve a cohesive one-team experience.

Duties and Accountabilities1

  • Execute all HR processes for the Americas Capital Markets section including performance management, compensation, talent management, employee retention and engagement
  • Support and build strong partnerships with the Regional Section Head and Director of Business Operations for the section to translate business objectives into HR strategies
  • Be accountable for all aspects of the employee lifecycle. As People Advisory Manager, you are the first point of contact between stakeholders, associates, and HR centers of excellence to ensure effective client service, consistency, and alignment of section strategy
  • Manage employee relation matters for the section in conjunction with the Chief People Officer and General Counsel
  • Provide guidance and facilitate career development conversations, helping to identify the right work experiences, feedback, training and coaching
  • Demonstrate and practice a high level of knowledge around talent management and a solid understanding of technical HR, including federal and local labor and employment laws
  • Understand the staffing and busyness needs for the section, ensuring associates receive the experiences required for continued development and progression
  • Analyze and create human capital data to ascertain trends and themes to inform decision making. Collaborate closely with the reporting teams to manipulate and analyze data for business consumption
  • Analyze associate utilization and hours targets when questions arise in terms of proration factors and bonus eligibility
  • Ensure all associates are informed and adhering to Firm policies
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of HR programs and processes, recommending improvements to drive continuous improvement
  • Facilitate the secondment or reverse secondment process through business development approvals, conflicts search, and relevant onboarding paperwork
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence to execute business priorities and ensure consistent strategy for the section, including:
    • Recruiting: Partner with the recruitment team to ensure consistent recruiting efforts are aligned with business need and succession planning
    • Training: Collaborate with Learning & Development and Professional Support Lawyer teams to ensure, technical and professional development curriculum is fit for purpose
    • Diversity: Consult with the D&I team on trends or feedback to enhance employee engagement and experience
    • HR Compliance: Be knowledgeable and escalate compliance and regulatory elements that need to be reviewed by the HR compliance team
    • Mobility & Immigration: Partner with global mobility, immigration, and tax teams to satisfy all regulatory and compliance elements are reviewed during global mobility. Collaborate with immigration team on visa strategies for the employee population
    • Benefits: Be knowledgeable about our benefit offerings, laisse for leave of absences, flexible work arrangements and accommodation requests
  • Work closely with and manage People Advisory Coordinators to ensure execution of all HR administration tasks

Qualifications

  • 6+ years' Human Resources experience
  • 2+ years' operating as HR junior generalist with a defined area of coverage
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Legal, Financial, or professional services experience preferred
  • Strong work-ethic, self-motivated, team-oriented
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environments, able to manage competing and conflicting priorities effectively to achieve a way forward
  • Ability to navigate difficult conversations; has prior experience working through employee relations matters and comfortable handling those conversations
  • Detail-oriented, thinks multiple steps ahead; prepares for potential problems and escalates issues when appropriate
  • Analytical mindset; comfortable working with and analyzing large sets of data and representing a story. Ability to pull together reports and work with Excel on a daily basis using vlookups, charts, pivot tables
  • Strong project management skills and organizational skills, working across global teams
  • Able to drive change and transformation, persuasive and able to influence senior decision makers

Location and Reporting

  • This is a hybrid in-office/remote role based in our New York office.
  • This role reports to the Americas Chief People Officer.
