JPMorgan Chase Lead Software Engineer - Data Migration and Modernization in New York, New York

We are looking for someone who is passionate about data, analytics and cloud engineering to join us as we modernize our legacy environments and migrate to modern cloud data platforms (AWS, Spark and Snowflake).

As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within Consumer Community Banking and the Analytic Data Platforms team, you are an integral part of an team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within various business functions in support of the firm's business objectives.

Job responsibilities

  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems.

  • Develops secure high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.

  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems.

  • Lead efforts to migrate on premise legacy workloads to the cloud, including the migration of legacy databases to cloud data warehouses.

  • Develop tooling and platforms to enhance the experience of analytic users.

  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture.

  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies.

  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.

  • Proven experience in designing, developing, and implementing data modernization solutions.

  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, with hands-on experience in migrating on-premises data warehouses to the cloud.

  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.

  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s).

  • Proficiency in automation and continuous delivery methods.

  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle.

  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.

  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems.

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience in re-engineering and migrating on-premises data solutions to and for the cloud.

  • Hands-on expertise in ETL/Data pipeline and data lake platforms like Spark/Hadoop/Databricks/EMR.

  • Experience in Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) for Cloud based data infrastructure.

  • Experience in building on emerging cloud serverless managed services, to minimize/eliminate physical/virtual server footprint.
