New York University Laboratory Associates (Zhang Lab) in New York, New York
The laboratory of Stephen Zhang, PhD at NYU’s Center for Neural Science seeks to hire laboratory associates to help investigate biochemical computation in innate behavioral circuits. The Zhang lab combines the fields of systems neuroscience and cell signaling to measure and manipulate intracellular signals over seconds, minutes, hours, and days to understand how they influence neural activity and behavioral choices over these timescales. The candidate will learn to perform stereotaxic surgeries, behavioral assays, optogenetics, fiber photometry, as well as brain-slice and in vivo multiphoton imaging experiments. Responsibilities also include animal husbandry, animal behavioral training, histology, and general laboratory support. A strong emphasis will be placed on reading, thinking, discussing, and writing about science to prepare candidates for successful careers in science and/or medicine. Applicants must have a BA or BS in a relevant science or engineering field, previous research experience, problem-solving and organizational skills, and should be motivated and scientifically curious. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $43,888- $58,656. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) the specific grant funding and the terms of the research grant when extending an offer .
Applicants must have a BA or BS in a relevant science or engineering field, previous research experience, problem-solving and organizational skills, and should be motivated and scientifically curious. A minimum commitment of two years is required.
