Citigroup Investment Portfolio Manager - Municipal Bonds in New York, New York
Citi Investment Management (CIM) is a group within Citi Global Wealth Investments that manages assets on a discretionary and advisory basis for clients of Citi. With over $80 billion in assets under management and advisement globally, CIM manages a broad suite of investment strategies within single and multi-asset class products.
CIM is currently seeking an experienced Portfolio Manager to join our team of investment professionals. The candidate will further strengthen the investment management, research, and portfolio construction capabilities of CIM’s strategies. The candidate will be responsible for the daily management of CIM client separately managed account (SMA) portfolios and will be a critical contributor to the investment team, with responsibilities related to both investment management and client service functions. The portfolio manager will be located with the US Fixed Income team in New York City, NY.
Responsibilities:
Daily management of assigned fixed income portfolios
Contribute to investment strategy development, communication and implementation
Coordinate with the CIM credit research team and traders
Communicate with internal partners and external clients on portfolio strategy, portfolio performance and market developments
Coordinate with client service and fiduciary oversight internal partners
Daily portfolio management of model/custom accounts
Contribution to overall investment strategy, design, and implementation of portfolio and risk guidelines
On-site prospect/client interactions, client maintenance, and support of sales/marketing initiatives
Stay abreast of trends and news, maintain pro-active views, and communicate conclusions/recommendations concerning pertinent sectors and macroeconomic trends and developments
Implement research views into portfolios
Monitor risk of client accounts and utilize quantitative tools to analyze portfolio exposures and risk-factors
Participate in investment meetings and work closely with other CIM portfolio managers and analysts to discuss views on market events and analysis
Monitor existing investments and industry developments
Participate in research coverage responsibilities including preparing analysis of certain companies/sectors and attending sell side conferences and corporate management meetings
Interface with internal and external clients to support new business activities and client retention initiatives
Contribute to CIM’s strategic planning within the relevant functional areas
Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm's reputation and safeguarding Citigroup, its clients and assets, by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
Qualifications:
15+ years of direct experience in the asset management industry, preferably in a portfolio management role
5+ years of direct municipal bond portfolio management experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Strong problem solving skills and diligent attention to detail
Ability to work independently and effectively multi-task across responsibilities
Ability to thrive in a team environment to effectively meet the goals of the group
Proficient with Bloomberg, Investor tools Perform, Charles River, MS Office Suite
CFA highly preferred
Experience with face to face client interaction
Understanding of risk factors that drive investment performance
Expected travel: 30% of time
Education:
- Bachelor’s/University degree, Master’s degree preferred
