Robert Half Human Resources (HR) Manager in New York, New York

Description

Growing New York City organization is currently seeking a Human Resources Manager with 5+ years of experience is primarily responsible for overseeing and managing all functions of the Human Resources department, including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, leaves, and employee relations; enforcing company policies and practices.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the business strategy.

  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.

  • Manage the recruitment and selection process for all staff positions.

  • Support organizational and space planning for future business growth.

  • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.

  • Maintain pay plan and benefits program to ensure competitive edge.

  • Assess and anticipate training and development needs, and address these.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.

  • Develop, review, and improve administrative systems, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensure all HR operations align with the business goals of the organization.

  • Handle workplace disputes, disciplinary actions, and other sensitive employment matters.

  • Foster a positive working environment through effective employee relations and employee recognition programs.

  • Collaborate with business leaders and employees to identify HR problems and propose solutions.

  • Oversee HR assistants, clerks, and staff, providing guidance as needed.

  • Participate in audits and implement recommendations.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources management or business administration.

  • Proven experience in a managerial or supervisory role within HR is essential.

  • Understanding of HR functions and best practices, as well as local, state, and federal legal requirements is important.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Must have the ability to manage time and workload effectively, and experience with HR metrics and HR software.

  • This role may also require occasionally taking on other HR roles, especially in smaller organizations.
