Job Description

The NYC Department of Probation (DOP) is a world leader in working creatively and effectively engaging with people under court-mandated community supervision. Following the best current data on “what works,” staff at DOP engage in meaningful relationships with those on probation in an effort to enhance community safety and decrease recidivism.

The Department is recruiting (1) one Community Coordinator to function as a Human Resources (HR) Specialists to implement a variety of human resource programs. Under general direction of the Director of Human Resources with some latitude for independent initiative and judgment, the HR Specialists will be responsible for performing human resource administrative work. Duties will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Promote HR programs to create an efficient and conflict-free workplace

  • Assist in administering assigned functions, such as CityTime administration, talent acquisition, onboarding processes, classification review, compensation and employment analysis, leave and benefits administration.

  • Collect and analyze data and track trends and developments in assigned functional areas.

  • Provide support and resolution to employees in various HR related topic.

  • Review weekly timesheets processed in City Time for accuracy, and compliance with time and leave rules and regulations.

  • Assess reports generated by the PMS and CHRMS systems to determine the accuracy of the data previously processed.

  • Review, interpret and recommend policy, process or program improvements.

  • Participate in working groups and committees.

  • Assists with special projects and initiatives

  • Responds to various requests for information

  • Ensure compliance with rules and regulations.

  • Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies

  • Maintain employee files and records in electronic and manual format.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications

  1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties described above; or

  2. High school graduation or equivalent and six years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to the duties as described above; or

  3. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" or "2" above. However, all candidates must have at least one year of experience as described in "1" above.
