About the role

As a Global Director of Engineering Design, you will promote the application of engineering and technical subject matter expertise, industry-standard processes, and tools across the enterprise to allow regions, RE Strategy, GREWE, and the client to meet their strategic, planning, and tactical objectives.

New York, New York US is the preferred location for this role; candidates based in London, England UK and Phoenix, AZ US will also be considered.

This role is part of the Engineering and technical services team and provides the GREWE standards framework to enable the appropriate stewardship of the client’s fixed assets in support of business needs, as well as specific consulting on code and technical matters.

What you’ll do

· Provide formal supervision to the engineering and technical services team who support all sites with best practices, industry standards, and tools for building design, construction, operations, and maintenance including asset management, drawing and document management, design review, code and standards, building automation, operating procedures, MOC, building performance, operations planning, and commissioning.

· Lead the team to identify, edit, document, socialize, and deploy industry-standard processes and tools in the following areas.

o Building automation standards, documentation, deployment, and system administration

o Building information modeling (3-D BIM) standards, documentation, deployment, and system administration.

o Operations planning standards and service/maintenance procedures documentation.

o Preventive maintenance standards, documentation, and system administration

o Management of Change standards, documentation, and system administration

o Asset management standards, documentation, deployment, and system administration (includes FCA & FSS).

o Building performance tools, processes, and monitoring.

o Facility information standards, documentation, deployment, and system administration.

o Provide strategic and tactical design management support to the Design Management Team, for the engineering process of a project from conception to completion.

o Advise on the proper implementation of the client design process through feasibility, scheme design, detailed design, construction, and handover phases of designated projects.

o Interface directly with the Operations teams to advise on operational failures and provide advice and reports with recommendations on a course of action.

· Support OE Processes including process safety, drawings, and documentation, technical design reviews for facility alterations and additions.

o Responsible for Management of Change (MOC) including administration GREWE MOC Process, Administering GREWE MOC Process, and MOC technical reviews.

o Responsible for Risk management including Facility Safety Surveys (FSS), Facility Condition Assessments (FCAs), and supporting the overall process. This includes overall responsibility for efficiency including measuring and optimizing building performance.

· Monitor the training and development of staff. Conduct performance evaluations and coaching. Oversee the recruiting and hiring of new employees.

· Develop new business growth and maintain existing business relationships.

· Maintain full responsibility for the financial performance of the program.

· Identify project risks, lead reviews, and develop risk mitigation and backup plans.

· Apply a robust knowledge of multiple disciplines, the business, and key drivers that impact departmental and cross-functional performance.

· Lead by example and model behaviors that are consistent with CBRE RISE values.

· Persuade managers and other colleagues to take action while being guided by the organization's functional business plans.

· Negotiate with external partners, vendors, and customers of divergent interests to reach a common goal.

· Identify and address multi-dimensional, complex, operational, and organizational problems leveraging the appropriate resources within or outside the department.

· Significantly improve and change existing methods, processes, and standards within job discipline.

· Coordinate and lead the team's daily activities. Establish work schedules, assign tasks, and cross-train staff. Set and track staff and department deadlines. Mentor and coach as needed.

· Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll need

· Bachelor's Degree preferred with 8-12 years of experience. In lieu of a degree, a combination of experience and education will be considered. LEED AP, PMP, and/or CCM designation(s) preferred.

· Professional Engineer (PE) registration is required.

· A solid understanding of the Commercial real estate industry in the areas of financial analysis, project management, construction, ethical practices, business operations, marketing, and business development.

· Experience in the areas of staffing, selection, training, development, coaching, mentoring, measuring, appraising, and rewarding performance and retention is preferred.

· Ability to lead the exchange of sensitive, complicated, and difficult information, convey performance expectations, and handle problems.

· Leadership skills to motivate the team to achieve broad operational targets with impacts on own job discipline, multiple job disciplines, and department.

· Leadership skills to set, manage, and achieve targets with a direct impact on multiple department results within a function.

· In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office products. Examples include Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.

· Expert interpersonal skills and an advanced inquisitive and growth mindset.

· Sophisticated math skills. Ability to calculate mildly complex figures such as percentages, fractions, and other financial-related calculations.

CBRE carefully considers multiple factors to determine compensation, including a candidate’s education, training, and experience. The minimum salary for the Global Director of Engineering Design position is $175,000 annually and the maximum salary for the Global Director of Engineering Design position is $215,000 annually. The compensation that is offered to a successful candidate will depend on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience. Successful candidates will also be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on CBRE’s applicable benefit program. This role will provide the following benefits: 401(K), Dental insurance, Health insurance, Life insurance, and Vision insurance.
