Job Summary:

MUFG’s Enterprise Valuation team, part of the Credit Portfolio Management group, is looking for an Associate level professional to support its Portfolio Management and Credit Groups in new deal underwritings and portfolio management (such as credit events, annual reviews or other review that requires revised valuation analysis). The core focus of the group is to prepare, evaluate, analyze, and summarize valuation results related to deal underwritings and portfolio management, with a specific focus on leveraged loans. In addition to valuations, the team is called upon to handle (i) a variety of ad hoc and recurring analysis related to portfolio monitoring and reporting and (ii) valuation training to enhance the competencies of the team as well as employees outside the Valuations and Analytics team that align with one of MUFG’s core value of talent development and knowledge sharing.

Major Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:

  • Join a team of professionals that (i) perform valuation analysis (ii) handle a variety of ad hoc and recurring analysis and (iii) conduct valuation training

  • Prepare valuation analysis and presentations for Portfolio Management Group and Credit Groups, and ad-hoc deliverables

  • Update valuation models / templates related to portfolio management, including discounted cash flow (DCF), peer group and precedent transaction multiples and other valuation models

  • Apply valuation methodologies in line with MUFG’s valuation policy

  • Create and develop presentation materials to effectively communicate results within MUFG

  • Work closely with Portfolio Management Group and Credit Groups to aid in the completion of new deal underwritings and portfolio management

  • Participate in and contribute to special assignments and projects as required

Experience / Skills:

  • 5-6 years of experience in banking (preferably Investment Banking) with exposure to credit underwriting or review preferred

  • Experience with valuation methods such as discounted cash flow, market multiple, market transaction, and other methodologies

  • Ability to operate with a high level of autonomy, exercising expert judgement on the valuation methodology appropriate for specific transactions

  • Strong quantitative and technical abilities, including financial modelling capabilities

  • Proven ability to work in a dynamic environment that requires execution of recurring deliverables as well as projects and initiatives in support of a rapidly growing business

  • Ability to deliver complex messages in a clearly and concisely

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS: (i) Excel (ii) Word and (iii) PowerPoint is required

Additional Information:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or similar discipline is required. A Master's degree (MBA or Master’s Degree in Finance / Business preferred) or other applicable certification (CFA) are preferable.

The typical base pay range for this role is between $135K - 155K depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and location. This role may also be eligible for certain discretionary performance-based bonus and/or incentive compensation.
