About the Department and Position: Cayuga Centers Training Team is seeking a confident public speaker and educator for the Foster Parent Trainer position in New York City. The Training Team works in closer partnership with all programs and support departments at Cayuga Centers to provide compliance and foundational training for our programs, program enhancement courses, foster parents, and professional development for our staff. Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Foster Parent Training and in cooperation with all other agency personnel, the Foster Parent Trainer will facilitate foster parent training for the Unaccompanied Children (UC) program. This staff member will ensure that required training is facilitated in an efficient, concise, and professional manner. The Foster Parent Trainer will complete the coordination and tracking of completed foster parent and staff training as needed. How you get to use your Skills…

  • Deliver virtual and in-person to new and experienced agency foster parents

  • Develop and maintain training that is fresh and updated, being responsive to the changing needs of the agency and its programs

  • Inform foster parents of upcoming training schedules/calendars through correspondence via phone, text, and email

  • Ensure that foster parents are in compliance with pre-service and mandated training required for licensing and relicensing

  • File and track training records

  • Flexibility to facilitate in-person and virtual training at all agency locations as well as during evenings and weekends

  • Participate on committees that identify training needs, as requested by department leadership

  • Seek and maintain ongoing certifications and train the trainer required applications

  • Perform other duties as requested by the immediate supervisor.

  • Comply with rules and regulations governing access to Protected Health Information (PHI) under HIPAA.

Schedule:

  • Non-Exempt

  • Regular hours entail Monday - Friday, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

  • Must be flexible to meet program needs.

Experience and Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, Associate Degree with two years experience with the child welfare system required

  • Experience delivering presentations and/or training in child welfare or community-based programs is a plus

  • Excellent communication and organization skills and ability to work in a flexible team environment

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred with high proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking

  • Proficiency in working with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Virtual Platforms

  • Ability to handle material in a responsible manner

  • Valid Driver’s License preferred; ability to travel to all agency locations as required

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time, depending on department needs

  • Ability to delivery full-day trainings, standing for long periods of time

  • Completing paperwork -Such as copying, scanning and faxing documents

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
