City of New York Forensic Operations Assistant (per diem) in New York, New York

Job Description

The Office of Chief Medical Examiner investigates cases of persons who die within New York City from criminal violence, by accident, by suicide, suddenly when in apparent health, when unattended by a physician, in a correctional facility or in any suspicious or unusual manner or where an application is made pursuant to law for a permit to cremate a body of a person.

Under the direction of the Supervisor of Forensic Operations Administration, performs administrative activities in support of all units in the Forensic Operations & Investigations Division to enable operational success. Typical tasks include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support Forensic Operations & Investigations Division in researching, initiating, and monitoring requests to procurement for goods and services:

  • research and obtain competitive quotes

  • initiate requisitions using agency procurement applications

  • coordinate with Division and Agency Procurement department personnel ensure timely processing of requisitions into purchase agreements and contracts

  • coordinate with vendors Agency Receiving department personnel to ensure timely receipt of goods and services

  • document receipt of goods or services in compliance with citywide procurement regulations

  • coordinate with vendors and Agency Audits & Accounts department personnel ensure timely receipt and payment of invoices

  • Assist Forensic Operations & Investigations personnel with scheduling and facilitating Division meetings

  • Ensure internal mail is routed to the appropriate parties

  • Ensure housekeeping and facility repair requests for the OCME Special Operations Division training lab are submitted

  • Ensure helpdesk tickets for the OCME Special Operations Division training labs are submitted

  • Ensures adequate office supplies are on hand for each unit in the Forensic Operations & Investigations Division

Qualifications

  1. There are no formal education or experience requirements for this position. However, the ability to understand and carry out simple instructions is required.

  2. Candidates must be able to understand and be understood in English.
